Nepalese Passport
A Nepali Passport is issued from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Nepal to Nepali citizens for the purpose of international travel. The Department of Passport (DoP), a Department under Ministry of Foreign Affairs functions as the issuing authority and is responsible for issuing Nepali passports on application to all eligible Nepali citizens. It enables the bearer to travel internationally and serves as proof of Nepali citizenship. Ordinary Nepali passports are chocolate brown in color with a chip symbol on their cover, which is commonly known as e-passport. it has Coat of arms of Nepal emblazoned in the center of the front cover. Development Regions Of Nepal
Prior to the promulgation of a new constitution in 2015 after an earthquake, Nepal was divided into five development regions ( ne, विकास क्षेत्र), 14 administrative zones ( ne, अञ्चल) and 75 districts ( ne, जिल्ला). The 14 administrative zones were grouped into five development regions. Each district is headed by a Chief District Officer (CDO) responsible for maintaining law and order and coordinating the work of field agencies of the various government ministries. National Identity Card (Nepal)
National Identity Card of Nepal is a federal level Identity card with unique identity number for each person that can be obtained by citizens of Nepal, based on their biometric and demographic data. The data is collected by the National ID Card Management Centre (NIDMC), a statutory authority established in July 2011 by the government of Nepal, under the jurisdiction of Home ministry. The contract to process and deliver the cards was signed in 2018 with IDEMIA. This card will feature a unique number, photo, personal Information and 10 fingerprints of the bearer. Upon full implementation, this card is to replace the current "Nepalese Citizenship" and it will be used for National Identity, personal identity, as Voter ID Card and as a Social Security Card through its unique number. A biometric passport (also known as an e-passport or a digital passport) is a traditional passport that has an embedded electronic microprocessor chip which contains biometric information that can be used to authenticate the identity of the passport holder. It uses contactless smart card technology, including a microprocessor chip (computer chip) and antenna (for both power to the chip and communication) embedded in the front or back cover, or centre page, of the passport. A machine-readable passport (MRP) is a machine-readable travel document (MRTD) with the data on the identity page encoded in optical character recognition format. Many countries began to issue machine-readable travel documents in the 1980s. Most travel passports worldwide are MRPs.
