National Punctuation Day is a celebration of punctuation that occurs each year on September 24 in the United States of America. Founded by Jeff Rubin in 2004, National Punctuation Day simply promotes the correct usage of punctuation. Punctuation (or sometimes interpunction) is the use of spacing, conventional signs (called punctuation marks), and certain typographical devices as aids to the understanding and correct reading of written text, whether read silently or aloud. The interrobang (), also known as the interabang (often represented by any of ?!, !?, ?!? or !?!), is an unconventional punctuation mark used in various written languages and intended to combine the functions of the question mark, or interrogative point, and the exclamation mark, or exclamation point, known in the jargon of printers and programmers as a "bang". StudioSTL
StudioSTL is a St. Louis based non-profit that aims to develop writing skills in youth aged 6–18. Background Modeled after Dave Eggers' 826 Valencia in San Francisco, StudioSTL was formed in 2005 by seven St. Louis area professionals: Pam Bliss, Elizabeth Ketcher, Cherlyn Michaels, John Pankey, Rachel Rowe, Suzie Schmidt and Erik Smetana. Co-founder Elizabeth Ketcher served as the organization's executive director, overseeing day-to-day operations. StudioSTL consisted of a writing studio, a loyal volunteer base, and collaborative partnerships. The non-profit brought together authors, educators and artists with youth ages 6–18 to develop writing skills to be used in life, work, and school. StudioSTL based their programs on the belief that a literary toolbox and writing skills are indispensable lifelong gifts.
