Nassau County Sewage District
The Nassau County Sewage District is a public sewer district in Nassau County, on Long Island, in New York, United States. It is owned by Nassau County and as of 2022 is operated under contract by Suez North America. Description The Nassau County Sewage District serves large portions of Nassau County. In recent years, the Nassau County Sewage District assumed control of the City of Glen Cove's sanitary sewer system. Nassau County's sanitary sewer system handles roughly 85% of sewage in Nassau County. The other 15% is handled by smaller, independent water pollution control districts (i.e.: the Port Washington Water Pollution Control District). Nassau County ( ) is a county in the U.S. state of New York. At the 2020 U.S. census, Nassau County's population is 1,395,774. The county seat is Mineola and the largest town is Hempstead. New York State Route 25D
New York State Route 25D (NY 25D) was a state highway located on Long Island in the U.S. state of New York. It was originally the designation of Horace Harding Boulevard, Nassau Boulevard, and Powerhouse Road, the route of which the Long Island Expressway (Interstate 495) took over as it was constructed in the 1950s. The NY 25D designation along the LIE was replaced by NY 24 upon the completion of the expressway through Queens and western Nassau County in 1958. Route description NY 25D, as of 1950, began at an intersection with NY 25 near the junction with NY 24 (Queens–Midtown Expressway). Known as Horace Harding Boulevard, NY 25D went east through western Queens, crossing through the Rego Park section of the city. Sands Point, New York
Sands Point is a village located at the tip of the Cow Neck Peninsula in the Town of North Hempstead, in Nassau County, on the North Shore of Long Island, in New York, United States. It is considered part of the Greater Port Washington area, which is anchored by Port Washington. The population was 2,675 at the 2010 census. History The village was incorporated in 1910, and is named for the Sands family. In 1912, the village absorbed the communities of Barkers Point and Motts Point, and in 1932, it absorbed the Harbor Acreas community. It was originally owned by three families: the Sands, the Vanderbilts, and the Cornwells. In 1917, Daniel Guggenheim bought his Hempstead House, formerly Castle Gould. His son Harry Guggenheim, founder of '' Newsday'', later erected his estate "Falaise" nearby in 1923. Roslyn Harbor is a village in Nassau County, on the North Shore of Long Island, in New York, United States. It is considered part of the Greater Roslyn area, which is anchored by the Incorporated Village of Roslyn. The population was 1,051 at the 2010 census. The Incorporated Village of Roslyn Harbor lies in both the Town of North Hempstead and the Town of Oyster Bay. History Roslyn Harbor incorporated as a village on October 17, 1931 as a result of the residents wishing to make their own zoning codes and other laws under the Municipal Home Rule Law. At the time, the majority of Roslyn Harbor consisted of a few large estates. Plandome is a village in the Town of North Hempstead in Nassau County, on the North Shore of Long Island, in New York, United States. It is considered part of the Greater Manhasset area, which is anchored by Manhasset. The population was 1,349 at the 2010 census. The Incorporated Village of Plandome was ranked fifth on Forbes' 10 most affluent U.S. communities list in 2009. History The Great Neck and Port Washington Railroad, a subsidiary of the Long Island Rail Road, built what is today known as the Port Washington Branch through the community in 1898; Plandome became a flag stop until it received a station in 1909. The original station building suffered a serious fire in January 1987, and was rebuilt along with platform lengthening and refurbishment by 1990. Munsey Park, New York
Munsey Park is a village in Nassau County, on the North Shore of Long Island, in New York, United States. It is considered part of the Greater Manhasset area, which is anchored by Manhasset. The population was 2,809 at the 2020 census. The Incorporated Village of Munsey Park is located within the Town of North Hempstead and has been recognized as a Tree City USA since 1983. History The village was first developed in the 1920s on North Shore land previously owned by wealthy publisher Frank Munsey as a commuter town and "model, restricted community" taking advantage of the Long Island Rail Road's Manhasset station. The land was bequeathed by Munsey to The Metropolitan Museum of Art in 1925, which developed the planned community under the leadership of museum president Robert W. DeForest.
