Nantucket Film Festival
The Nantucket Film Festival is a film festival founded in 1996 which focuses on screenwriting. Board members include Donick Cary, Nancy Dubac, Chris Matthews, Kathleen Matthews, Ben Stiller, and Tom Scott. History The Nantucket Film Festival was founded in 1996 by siblings Jill and Jonathan Burkhart, who grew up on the island. In 1997, Mystelle Brabbée joined them and now serves as executive director. The Nantucket Film Festival Screenwriters Tribute The NFF Screenwriters Tribute is a celebration of a noted screenwriter. This event is hosted by Brian Williams, NFF Board member and NBC News anchor. Nantucket, Massachusetts
Nantucket () is an island about south from Cape Cod. Together with the small islands of Tuckernuck Island, Tuckernuck and Muskeget, it constitutes the Town and County of Nantucket, a Consolidated city-county, combined county/town government that is part of the U.S. state of Massachusetts. Donick Cary is an American writer and producer. Early life Cary grew up on Nantucket Island, graduating from Nantucket High School in 1986. Personal life He is the son of actors Richard and Mara Cary and the brother of actress Martha Cary, the latter two of whom have done voices for his show ''Lil' Bush''. Career He got his start writing for '' Late Night with David Letterman''. He continued working with the show through its move to CBS, serving as both head writer and the "guy in the bear suit". After five years in ''Late Night'', Cary moved to ''The Simpsons'', where he served as a co-executive producer for four seasons (seasons 7-11). Nancy Jean Dubuc is an American businesswoman who currently serves as chief executive officer of the American-Canadian media company Vice Media. Early life and education Dubuc is the daughter of Carol D. Smith and Robert H. Dubuc Jr. Her parents later separated and remarried, giving Dubuc step-parents. Nantucket Dreamland Foundation
The Nantucket Dreamland Foundation is a non-profit organization based in Nantucket, Massachusetts. It purchased the 177-year-old Dreamland Theater from Haim Zahavi in October 2007 for 9.8 million dollars. Since then, the old theater, which hadn't shown a big screen movie in over six years, was dismantled with the plan of incorporating a significant amount of old materials (trusses, windows and other historic elements) into the design and construction of the new theater. This new design, which has been approved by the Historic District Commission, the Nantucket Planning Board, and the Massachusetts Historical Commission, includes a 330-seat movie theater, a second floor studio theater for smaller events and productions, and an outdoor community space.
