Joan "Nani" Roma Cararach (born 17 February 1972) is a rally racing driver from Folgueroles, Barcelona, Spain. He won the Dakar Rally riding a motorcycle in 2004. Since then he has entered in the car category, taking the win in the 2014 edition of the race. From 2021 he has been part of the BRX Prodrive Prodrive is a British motorsport and advanced engineering group based in Banbury, Oxfordshire, England. Michel Périn
Michel Périn (born 19 January 1957, in Saint-Mihiel) is a French rally navigator. Biography He started racing in 1977. In 1984 he turned professional as co-pilot of François Chatriot, and finished second in the French Rally Championship, championship that he would win in 1988, 1989 and 1990. He changed to off-road rally racing in 1992, to the side of Pierre Lartigue, winning the Dakar Rally in 1994, 1995 and 1996. He also achieved multiple victories and podium finishes in many of the most important offroad races, including Rally of Tunisia, Atlas Rally, Baja Italy, Spanish Baja and Baja Portugal. From 1993 to 1996, he won the FIA Cross Country World Cup. In 1997 and 1998 he switched again to rally, participating in the French Rally Championship with the driver Patrick Magaud. 2020 Dakar Rally
The 2020 Dakar Rally was the 42nd edition of the event and the first edition held in Saudi Arabia. The event started in Jeddah on 5 January and finished in Al-Qiddiya on 17 January after 12 stages of the competition. This was also the first event under the direction of David Castera, who replaced Etienne Lavigne when he stepped down from the role in March 2019 after 15 years in charge. Spaniard Carlos Sainz won his third Dakar with a third different make, his first with the new Mini JCW X-Raid buggy. In the motorcycle class, American Ricky Brabec became the first person from North America to win any class in the Dakar Rally. It was also the first victory for Honda since 1989 and ended a streak of 18 consecutive wins for KTM. 2019 Dakar Rally
The 2019 Dakar Rally was the 41st edition of the event and the eleventh successive year that the event was held in South America. The event started in Lima, Peru on 6 January and finished there on 17 January after 10 stages of competition. Qatari Nasser Al-Attiyah won his third Dakar in the Cars division for Toyota, in the process becoming the second person to win the Dakar Rally with three different vehicle manufacturers (other wins came with Volkswagen in 2011 and Mini in 2015). In the Bikes division, Toby Price of Australia won his second Dakar Rally despite suffering from a fractured wrist during the event. The Kamaz team of Eduard Nikolaev, Evgenii Iakovlev and Vladimir Rybakov won their third consecutive title in the Trucks division. Gymkhana Grid
Gymkhana Grid is a gymkhana car race held annually in different venues around the world since 2010. It was co-founded by racecar driver Ken Block, clothing brand DC Shoes and promoter Chris Willard. However, the 2011 edition was cancelled after business conflicts and Willard left the organization. The racecourse is symmetrical, so drivers make a timed run on each one. The driver with best aggregate times advances to the next round of the bracket. Courses have tight corners, which encourage drivers to apply drifting techniques, and feature obstacles such as barrels, tyres, ship containers and tanks. The event features several rallycross and drifting champions and also amateur racers, sometimes split in different classes. Likewise, each event had all-wheel drive and rear-wheel drive classes, except at the X Games Los Angeles 2013 where there was a single AWD class. 2012 Dakar Rally
The 2012 Dakar Rally was the 34th running of the event. It was held in South America for the fourth successive time. Summary By 17 March 2011, Argentine president Cristina Fernández de Kirchner announced that the start would be in Mar del Plata, Argentina, the first stage would end in Bahía Blanca. The course would later cross the provinces of La Pampa, Mendoza, San Juan, La Rioja and Catamarca before crossing to Chile and finally ending in Peru. On 9 January 2011, Peruvian press announced that Peru would host the three final stages of the 2012 Dakar Rally, with Lima, the Peruvian capital, hosting the awards ceremony. The official announcement took place on 18 February in Paris. A map displaying these final stages was also published. The 2006 Dakar Rally, also known as the 2006 Paris-Dakar Rally, was the 28th running of the Dakar Rally event. The 2006 event ran from 31 December 2005 to 15 January 2006. It started from Lisbon, Portugal, and passed through Spain, Morocco, Mali, Mauritania, Guinea, before finishing in Senegal. 2005 Dakar Rally
2005 Dakar Rally also known as the 2005 Paris-Dakar Rally was the 27th running of the Dakar Rally event. The 2005 event was long, began in Barcelona on 31 December 2004 and passed through Morocco, Mauritania and Mali before ending at Dakar in Senegal on 16 January 2005. The course was shorter than in 2004 but was more challenging. A record number of competitors, 696 cars, motorbikes and trucks (including assistance vehicles) in total, entered the rally. This year introduced a regulation for motorcycles that allowed open class single cylinder motorcycles of any capacity but limited twin cylinder motorcycles to 450cc. Robby Gordon and Colin McRae swapped the lead in the early stages of the rally, until McRae suffered a crash during the sixth stage between Smara and Zouerat and retired from the event. Rally Of Morocco
The Rallye du Maroc (Morocco Rally) was a marathon rally, similar to the Safari Rally, but that should not be confused with the Rallye du Maroc rally raid introduced in 2000. History It was first run in 1934, and held intermittently until 1988. Established by the Royal Automobile Club of Morocco, it is one of the more difficult automotive rallies. In 1969 for example, 7 cars completed the course, out of a starting field of 68 vehicles. The event was a World Rally Championship round in 1973, 1975 and 1976. The stages were varied – from shorter, but rough and challenging more typical ones to desert crossings (like in the Dakar Rally), which were very long, reaching even few hundred kilometers, making refueling during the stage mandatory.
