Nabawan District
The Nabawan District ( ms, Daerah Nabawan) is an administrative district in the Malaysian state of Sabah, part of the Interior Division which includes the districts of Beaufort, Keningau, Kuala Penyu, Nabawan, Sipitang, Tambunan and Tenom. The capital of the district is in Nabawan Town. History The district is formerly known as Pensiangan District before been renamed into Nabawan District in 2004. The history of the district administration began in 1957. That year, the district got its own district office in Pensiangan, about 114 kilometres south of Nabawan. Since there were no roads in this area, the transport can only be reached by boat or with horse. The district officers stationed in Pensiangan were therefore equipped with horses to perform their duties. The telephone connection to the outside world was an electroless cable laid along the footpath from Keningau to Pensiangan, to which telephones could be attached if required. Interior Division
The Interior Division ( ms, Bahagian Pedalaman) is an administrative division of the state of Sabah, Malaysia. It occupies the southwest portion of Sabah, bordered by the neighbouring state of Sarawak on its west. With an area of 18,298 square kilometres, it covers 24.9% of Sabah's territory and is home to approximately 14.7% of Sabah's total population. The largest town in the Interior Division is Keningau. Other main towns in this division include Beaufort, Kuala Penyu, Sipitang, Tambunan and Tenom. The coastal parts of the Division are settled mainly by Bisaya, Bruneian Malays and Kedayan, whereas the inland areas to the east of the Crocker Range are mostly settled by various subgroups of the Kadazan-Dusun people. Sabah () is a state of Malaysia located in northern Borneo, in the region of East Malaysia. The Murut are an indigenous ethnic group, comprising 29 sub-ethnic groups inhabiting the northern inland regions of Borneo. The Murutic languages are a family of half a dozen closely related Austronesian languages.
