NWA Intercontinental Tag Team Championship
The Intercontinental Tag Team Championship is a professional wrestling tag team title in Japanese promoting Pro Wrestling Zero1, typically reserved for (but not exclusive to) heavyweight (>) wrestlers. It was created on June 14, 2001, three months after then Pro Wrestling Zero-One's creation, when Samoa Joe and Keiji Sakoda (though Zero1 has since ceased to recognize both their reign as well as the following reign by Steve Corino and Mike Rapada) defeated Yuuki Ishikawa and Katsumi Usuda. This was during a time when Zero-One was a member of the National Wrestling Alliance; since the two organizations' parting in late 2004, the NWA does not recognize or sanction it, though it retains the NWA initials. It is one of two tag team titles currently active in Zero1, along with the NWA International Lightweight Tag Team Championship, contested exclusively among junior heavyweights. National Wrestling Alliance
The National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) is an American professional wrestling promotion and former professional wrestling governing body operated by its parent company Lightning One, Inc. Founded in 1948, the NWA began as a governing body for a group of regional professional wrestling promotions, the heads of which made up the Board of Directors. The group operated a territory system which sanctioned their own company championships while recognizing a singular world champion who defended his title across all the territories, participated in talent exchanges, and collectively protected the territorial integrity of member promotions. Prior to the 1960s it acted as the sole governing body for most of professional wrestling. Hirotaka Yokoi
(born June 8, 1978) is a Japanese former mixed martial artist and professional wrestler. A professional MMA competitor from 2000 until 2007, Yokoi fought for PRIDE, Shooto, RINGS, and DEEP, while in professional wrestling he wrestled mainly for Pro Wrestling Zero1. Mixed martial arts career Yokoi originally started training in Judo in high school, but he was more interested in Universal Wrestling Federation and its offshoots. Kohei Sato
is a Japanese professional wrestler contracted with Pro Wrestling Zero1. Sato is also a former mixed martial artist. Career A former judoka and amateur wrestler, Sato made his transition to mixed martial arts after meeting Kazunari Murakami and Sanshu Tsubakichi. He joined the Shooto promotion, winning the 1998 All Japan Amateur Shooto Championships over Takashi Okada in the heavyweight class, and later turning professional and gaining two wins over Anthony Netzler and Katsuhisa Fujii. Jon Heidenreich (born June 28, 1972) is an American retired professional wrestler, better known simply as Heidenreich. Nathan Jones (born 21 August 1969) is an Australian actor, powerlifting champion, strongman and former professional wrestler. He is best known for his time in WWE. He is currently inactive from pro-wrestling competition due to a cervical spine injury substained in April 2022.
