NRK Nyheter (radio Station)
NRK Nyheter () is a Norwegian all-news radio channel operated by the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (NRK). It was launched on 14 April 1997 (as ''NRK Alltid nyheter'') as part of an effort to attract listeners to DAB digital radio, and was the world's first all-digital news channel. Initially the station used the same production model as ABC NewsRadio in Sydney, Australia and broadcast news every fifteen minutes, in a less formal manner than traditional radio. It had its own staff of 16 journalists who created stories based on material provided by NRK's main news division, the BBC World Service, and Sveriges Radio. In 2002 the station moved to NRK's headquarters in Marienlyst, Oslo, where other NRK news output is produced. Although the channel had been set up with the aim of attracting listeners to DAB, it was later decided that early DAB coverage was too low, and parallel broadcasting on FM was begun in 17 of the largest Norwegian cities and towns. NRK, an abbreviation of the Norwegian ''Norsk Rikskringkasting AS'', generally expressed in English as the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation, is the Norwegian government-owned radio and television public broadcasting company, and the largest media organisation in Norway. All other TV channels, broadcast from Norway, were banned between 1960 and 1981. NRK broadcasts three national TV channels and thirteen national radio channels on digital terrestrial television, digital terrestrial radio and subscription television. Sveriges Radio AB (, "Sweden's Radio") is Sweden's national publicly funded radio broadcaster. Sveriges Radio is a public limited company, owned by an independent foundation, previously funded through a licensing fee, the level of which is decided by the Swedish Riksdag. ''Dagens Eko'' ("Echo of the day") – often shortened to ''Ekot'' ("The echo") – is the news service of Swedish national radio broadcaster Sveriges Radio. It provides news bulletins of variable length which are known as ''Ekonyheter'' ("Echo news") and broadcast at the top of most hours on the P1 and P4 networks. Those on P4 are supplemented by local news reports. On P1 there are extra bulletins on the half-hour at 5.30–8.30 on weekdays as part of the nearly 4-hour-long morning news magazine ''P1-morgon''. P1 also carries longer news programmes at 12.30 (''Luncheko'', concluding with a press review), 15.45 (weekdays only), 16.45, and 17.45. ''Dagsrevyen'' (English: ''The Daily Review'') is the daily evening news programme for the Norwegian television channel NRK1, the main channel of the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (NRK), broadcast at 19:00. In 2007, the programme started airing simultaneously on NRK's dedicated news channel NRK2, but this arrangement ended that same year. Dagsrevyen's first newscast was broadcast in 1958 and it has kept its name since. It is Norway's most viewed programme, with daily ratings of around one million. Around 200 people are involved in its production, with headquarters at Marienlyst in Oslo. Dagsrevyen aims at fewer, but longer and more extensive stories than its competitors. NRK hosts a tight network of domestic journalists in addition to international correspondence offices, though NRK also uses footage acquired through the European Broadcasting Union. Oslo
Oslo ( , , or ; sma, Oslove) is the capital and most populous city of Norway. It constitutes both a county and a municipality. Marienlyst is an area in the borough of St. Hanshaugen in Oslo. It is best known as the site of the national headquarters of the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (NRK), and "Marienlyst" is often used synonymously with NRK. The BBC World Service is an international broadcaster owned and operated by the BBC, with funding from the British Government through the Foreign Secretary's office. It is the world's largest external broadcaster in terms of reception area, language selection and audience reach. It broadcasts radio news, speech and discussions in more than 40 languages to many parts of the world on analogue and digital shortwave platforms, internet streaming, podcasting, satellite, DAB, FM and MW relays.
