Norra Begravningsplatsen
Norra begravningsplatsen, literally "The Northern Burial Place" in Swedish, is a major cemetery of the Stockholm urban area, located in Solna Municipality. Inaugurated on 9 June 1827, it is the burial site for a number of Swedish notables. The largest part of the cemetery is managed by Stockholm Municipality, Stockholm municipality, despite being located in the neighbouring municipality of Solna. The site also has a Catholic and a Jewish burial ground with their own administrators. The Catholic burial ground was established in 1847 to the north of the oldest part of the cemetery and next to the Catholic part is the Jewish burial ground, which was established in 1857. The Catholic and Jewish burial grounds also have chapels. Solna Municipality
Solna ( or , ), also known as Solna Municipality, is a municipalities of Sweden, municipality in central Stockholm County, Sweden, located just north of Stockholm City Centre. Its seat is located in the town of Solna, which is a part of the Stockholm urban area. Solna is one of the wealthiest municipalities in Sweden. The municipality is part of Metropolitan Stockholm. None of the area is considered rural, which is unusual for Swedish municipalities, which normally are of mixed rural/urban character. Solna is the third-smallest municipality in Sweden in terms of area, after nearby Sundbyberg Municipality, Sundbyberg, as well as Burlöv Municipality, Burlöv, Scania County. Knut Frænkel
Knut Hjalmar Ferdinand Frænkel (14 February 1870 – c. 10 October 1897) was a Swedish engineer and arctic explorer who perished in the Andrée's Arctic balloon expedition, Arctic balloon expedition of 1897 of Salomon August Andrée, S. A. Andrée in 1897. Biography Frænkel was born in Karlstad, Sweden. He was a major in the Road and Waterway Construction Service Corps, and grew up in mountainous Jämtland in the eastern middle part of Sweden, where he acquired an interest in outdoor activities and sports. He later went to the Palmgrenska samskolan, Palmgren School in Stockholm and graduated with a civil engineering degree from the Royal Institute of Technology in 1896, and was preparing himself to enter the Army engineers when the chance came up in 1897 to join S. Mauritz Stiller
Mauritz Stiller (born Moshe Stiller, 17 July 1883 – 8 November 1928) was a Finnish film director of Jewish origin, best known for discovering Greta Garbo and bringing her to America. Stiller was a pioneer of the Swedish film industry, writing and directing many short films from 1912. When Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer invited him to Hollywood as a director, he arrived with his new discovery Greta Gustafsson, whose screen name Greta Garbo is believed to have been his suggestion. After frequent disagreements with studio executives at MGM and Paramount Pictures, Stiller returned to Sweden, where he died soon afterward. Karin Molander
Karin Molander (born Katarina Margareta Elisabet Edwertz; 20 May 1889 – 3 September 1978) was a Swedish stage and film actress whose career spanned over five decades. Career In Stockholm, Sweden, Molander began taking classes from theater actress Julia Håkansson at a young age. She debuted on stage at the Vasa Theatre in 1907. Moreover, she was engaged at the Intiman Theatre from 1911 to 1920, the Lorensberg Theatre from 1920 to 1922, and the Royal Dramatic Theatre in two phases: 1922 to 1925 and again from 1931 to 1936. Hasse Ekman (born Hans Gösta Ekman; 10September 191515February 2004) was a Swedish director, actor, writer and producer for film, stage and television. Biography Hasse Ekman is probably Sweden's most successful and critically acclaimed film director from the period after Sjöström and Stiller and prior to Ingmar Bergman, peaking between the mid-1940s and 1950. Knut Gunnar Johanson (13 November 1909 – 24 May 1986) was a Swedish actor known for his frequent work with writer and director Ingmar Bergman. Richard Dybeck
Richard Dybeck (1 September 1811 – 28 July 1877) was a Swedish jurist, antiquarian, and lyricist. He is mainly remembered as the author of the lyrics to what is now the de facto Swedish national anthem, ''Du gamla, Du fria''. Biography Dybeck was born in the rectory of Odensvi parish, just outside the town of Köping in Västmanland, Sweden. He was the son of a clergyman, went to gymnasium in Västerås, and later matriculated at Uppsala University in 1831 with a law degree. Bo Bergman
Bo Hjalmar Bergman (6 October 1869 – 17 November 1967) was a Swedish writer, literary critic and member of the Swedish Academy, sitting in Seat 12 from 1925 until his death. His works form the inspiration for works by several major Swedish composers, including: Wilhelm Stenhammar, Ture Rangström, and Karin Rehnqvist.
