Nitter
Nitter is a free and open source alternative viewer for Twitter, focusing on privacy and performance. Features The user interface was designed to be minimalist and resemble the classic Twitter desktop layout. Since the user could not log in to Twitter through Nitter, Nitter had no notifications, no home feed, and no ability to tweet. By default, Nitter had no infinite scroll. It had no ads or tracking, and the timeline was in chronological order. Nitter relied on a glitch that allowed creating a large amount of "guest accounts" using proxy servers in order to fetch content. In addition to the official web instance, there are unofficial public web instances, as well as community-contributed mobile apps and browser extensions. Nitter was funded by donations as well as a grant from NLnet's NGI fund. Discontinuation Nitter was officially discontinued in February 2024. Invidious
Invidious is a free and open-source alternative frontend to YouTube. It is available as a Docker container, or from the GitHub master branch. It is intended to be used as a lightweight and "privacy-respecting" alternative to the official YouTube website. Many privacy preserving redirecting software as well as YouTube clients use Invidious instances. Invidious does not use the official YouTube API but scrapes the website for video and metadata such as likes and views. This is done intentionally to decrease the amount of data shared with Google, but YouTube can still see a user's IP address. The web-scraping tool is called the Invidious Developer API. Browser Extension
A browser extension is a software module for customizing a web browser. Browsers typically allow users to install a variety of extensions, including user interface modifications, cookie management, ad blocking, and the custom scripting and styling of web pages. Browser plug-ins are a different type of module and no longer supported by the major browsers. One difference is that extensions are distributed as source code, while plug-ins are executables (i.e. object code). Infinite scrolling, also known as endless scrolling, is an approach to web design where new material is continually dynamically added to the bottom of the page as the user scrolls downward, leading to the apparent ability to scroll forever. This is in contrast to pagination, where material is divided into discrete pages. Sass (short for ''syntactically awesome style sheets'') is a preprocessor scripting language that is interpreted or compiled into Cascading Style Sheets (CSS).
