Nihad Uk
Nihad Uk (born 10 July 1989) is a Bosnian politician serving as Premier of Sarajevo Canton since March 2023. He previously served as member of the Federal House of Peoples from January to March 2023. He is a member of Our Party. Early life and education Uk was born in Sarajevo. He graduated from the Faculty of Law of the University of Sarajevo in 2013, and earned a master's degree in international law at the same faculty in 2017. From 2013 to 2014, he worked as a legal trainee at the "Home for Children Without Parental Care of Sarajevo Canton." From 2015 to 2016, he was an associate in public procurement at the R&S d.o.o. company. Political career In the 2016 municipal elections, Uk was elected councilor of Our Party in the municipal council of Centar Sarajevo, and was also delegated to the Sarajevo City Council. This article lists the heads of the Sarajevo Canton, the head of the Government of the Sarajevo Canton. Until 2002, both the offices of governor and premier existed. However, the office of governor of the Sarajevo Canton was abolished and the office of premier was left as the sole office. The premier is appointed by the Assemblies of the cantons of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sarajevo Cantonal Assembly. As head of the government, the premier has no authority for appointing ministers, and his role is that of a coordinator. Ministers are appointed in his or her stead by the majority-parties according to ethnic and Political divisions of Bosnia and Herzegovina, entity representation rules, so that a deputy minister must not be of same ethnicity as the respective minister. Centar, Sarajevo
Centar (Cyrillic: Центар, lit. ”Center") is a municipality of the city of Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is located between the older parts of the city under Stari Grad, and the newer more modern parts of the city under the municipalities Novi Grad and Novo Sarajevo. The Centar municipality is the administrative, business, commercial, cultural, educational, and medical centre of Sarajevo. The Sarajevo Canton, officially the Canton of Sarajevo (; ; ), is one of the ten cantons of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Its cantonal seat is the city of Sarajevo, also the capital city of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Canton represents the metro area of Sarajevo. The Sarajevo City Council ( Bosnian: ''Gradsko vijeće Grada Sarajeva'') is a 28-member elected body that scrutinises the activities of the mayor of Sarajevo and has the power, with a two-thirds super-majority, to amend the mayor's annual budget and to reject the mayor's draft statutory strategies. 2016 Bosnian Municipal Elections
Municipal elections were held in Bosnia and Herzegovina on 2 October 2016 to elect mayors and assemblies in 143 municipalities. A total of 3,263,906 voters were registered in the Central Voters’ Register, including 65,111 by-mail voters.
