''The Current'' is a Canadian current affairs radio program which airs weekday mornings on CBC Radio One. It airs from 8:37 a.m. local time to 10 a.m., with the exception of Newfoundland, where it runs from 9:07 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. The show features interview sessions and radio documentaries that typically take up a half hour each. History The program premiered in 2002, and was hosted from its inception by investigative journalist Anna Maria Tremonti. Current Affairs (news Format)
Current affairs is a genre of broadcast journalism in which major news stories are discussed at length in a timely manner. This differs from regular News broadcasting, news broadcasts that place emphasis on news reports presented for simple presentation as soon as possible, often with a minimum of analysis. It is also different from the news magazine show format in that events are discussed immediately. The UK's BBC programmes, such as ''This World (TV series), This World'', ''Panorama (TV series), Panorama'', ''Real Story'', ''BBC Scotland Investigates'', ''Spotlight (NI), Spotlight'', ''Week In Week Out'', and ''Inside Out (2002 TV programme), Inside Out'', fit the definition. David Jeffrey Frum (; born 30 June 1960) is a Canadian-American political commentator and a former speechwriter for President George W. Bush. He is a senior editor at ''The Atlantic'' as well as an MSNBC contributor. In 2003, Frum authored the first book about Bush's presidency written by a former member of the administration. Jan Wong
Jan Wong (; born August 1952) is a Canadian academic, journalist, and writer. Wong worked for ''The Globe and Mail'', serving as Beijing correspondent from 1988 to 1994, when she returned to write from Canada. At the turn of the 21st century she was known for her ''Globe'' column ''Lunch with Jan Wong''. She covered the Dawson College shooting in 2006 and her article was attacked by the public and even the prime minister. ''The Globe'' management did not back her and this caused her to have a bout of clinical depression. Haroon Siddiqui, is an Indo-Canadian newspaper journalist, columnist and editorial page editor emeritus of the ''Toronto Star''.
