Niels Vink
Niels Vink (born 6 December 2002) is a Dutch wheelchair tennis player. Vink has won five Grand Slam singles titles, two at the French Open, two at Wimbledon and one at the US Open. He has also won nine Grand Slam doubles titles, all have been with Sam Schröder. At the 2020 Summer Paralympics, Vink won a gold medal with partner Sam Schröder in the Quad Doubles, and a bronze in the Quad Singles. Early life At the age of one year, Vink contracted a bacterial infection ( meningococcal sepsis). As a result, he lost both legs and several phalanges. At the age of nine, he attended the 2012 Summer Paralympics in London. Sam Schröder (born 25 September 1999) is a Dutch wheelchair tennis player. Personal life Schröder has split hand/split foot syndrome (SHFM), a rare genetic disorder which has caused his hands and feet to develop abnormally. European Para Championships
The European Para Championships is a multi-sport event contested by para-athletes from European nations. The championships have been awarded the status of regional games by the European Paralympic Committee and offer qualification opportunities for the Paralympic Games. The Championships are partly analogous with the European Games, taking place a year before the Paralympic Games and endorsed by the EPC, and with the European Championships in that they represent a combination of selected European championships in different sports.
