Nicholas Roy
Nicholas Roy is a Canadian-American computer scientist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is Professor of Aeronautics and Astronautics at MIT and a principal investigator at the MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory. His research focuses on robotics, machine learning, autonomous systems, planning and reasoning, human-computer interaction and micro air vehicles and also principles of autonomy and decision-making. Micro Air Vehicle
A micro air vehicle (MAV), or micro aerial vehicle, is a class of miniature UAVs that has a size restriction and may be autonomous. Modern craft can be as small as 5 centimeters. Development is driven by commercial, research, government, and military purposes; with insect-sized aircraft reportedly expected in the future. The small craft allows remote observation of hazardous environments inaccessible to ground vehicles. MAVs have been built for hobby purposes, such as aerial robotics contests and aerial photography. Sebastian Thrun (born May 14, 1967) is a German-American entrepreneur, educator, and computer scientist. He is CEO of Kitty Hawk Corporation, and chairman and co-founder of Udacity. Before that, he was a Google VP and Fellow, a Professor of Computer Science at Stanford University, and before that at Carnegie Mellon University. At Google, he founded Google X and Google's self-driving car team. He is also an adjunct professor at Stanford University and at Georgia Tech.
