The ''News & Record'' is an American, English language newspaper with the largest circulation serving Guilford County, North Carolina, and the surrounding region. It is based in Greensboro, North Carolina, and produces local sections for Greensboro and Rockingham County, North Carolina. Since the mid-2000s, the paper has undergone rounds of layoffs and changes in ownership. As of 2021, it had an average weekday circulation of about 21,510. History The ''News & Record'' traces its roots to the ''Daily Record'' which was first printed on November 17, 1890, in Greensboro. An afternoon paper, it was begun by John Benson, Joseph Reece, and Harper J. Elam. Both Benson and Elam eventually sold their interest in the paper to Reece who operated it as sole owner for 14 years until his death in 1915. The University of Cincinnati (UC or Cincinnati) is a public research university in Cincinnati, Ohio. Founded in 1819 as Cincinnati College, it is the oldest institution of higher education in Cincinnati and has an annual enrollment of over 44,000 students, making it the second largest university in Ohio.
