''New Old Ground'' is the third studio album by Australian hip hop act Koolism, released in February 2006 by Invada Records. DJ Danielsan reflects that the album was "about returning to the original raw elements that Koolism was built on and paying homage to the music that inspired us, while still moving forward". The album was recorded in only six months. Koolism
''Koolism'' is an Australian hip hop duo originating from Canberra, Australian Capital Territory. The members are lyricist Hau Latukefu (born Langomi-e-Hau Latukefu, 1976, Queanbeyan, Australia) and producer/DJ/musician Danielsan Ichiban (born Daniel Elleson, 1975, Auckland, New Zealand). History ''Koolism'' started out in 1992 when Elleson (aka DJ Rampage) joined a group by the name Tribe Ledda L (L for Latukefu), which comprised Hau and his cousins Hounga and Sione. By 1995 only DJ Danielsan and Hau remained and they changed the name to Koolism, from a song with that name which they recorded the previous year. Their first appearance using that name is on the ''Homebrews Volume 1'' compilation. Their first official release, ''Bedroom Shit'' came out in 1996 on cassette and was passed around the country from one person to the next – the inspiration for the track "Tapes" on their 2006 album, '' New Old Ground''. ''Part 3 Random Thoughts'' or ''Pt.3 Random Thoughts'' is a studio album by Australian hip hop artists, Koolism, which was released on 10 May 2004 by Invada Records via Inertia Distribution. It features guest appearances from Rodney P on "Warm and Easy", N'fa (credited as Nfamas) and BVA on "Stage Presence", BVA & Raph as Mnemonic Ascent for "On Deck". Three tracks on the album, "Koolism Is", "Adrenalin" and "The Grand Opening", received extensive airplay on Triple J. At the ARIA Music Awards of 2004 Koolism won Best Urban Release for the album – the first artist to take the new category. ''The 'Umu'' is the fourth studio album by Australian hip hop act Koolism, released in September 2010 by Invada Records. The ''‘umu'' is an underground oven used in Polynesian cooking and a nod to MC Hau’s Tonga Tonga (, ; ), officially the Kingdom of Tonga ( to, Puleʻanga Fakatuʻi ʻo Tonga), is a Polynesian country and archipelago. Australian Hip Hop
Australian hip hop traces its origins to the early 1980s and is largely inspired by hip hop and other urban musical genres from the United States. Run-DMC (also spelled Run-D.M.C.) was an American hip hop group from Hollis, Queens, New York City, founded in 1983 by Joseph Simmons, Darryl McDaniels, and Jason Mizell. ''Tougher Than Leather'' is the fourth studio album by American hip hop group Run-D.M.C., released on May 17, 1988, by Profile Records. The album was produced by the group members themselves, Davy D. and Rick Rubin. While the new record did not maintain the same popularity as its predecessor, it obtained platinum status and spawned the favorites "Run's House" and "Mary, Mary". Despite being given a mixed reception at the time of its release, it is now hailed as a seminal classic in hip-hop and many see it as an underrated album. ''Tougher Than Leather'' peaked at number 9 on the US ''Billboard'' 200, and number 2 on the Top R&B/Hip Hop Albums chart. The album was certified Platinum by the RIAA on July 19, 1988.
