Net Optics is a manufacturer of network monitoring and intelligent access solutions for physical and virtual networks. The company was established in 1996 by Eldad Matityahu. Ixia announced the purchase of Net Optics 1/sup> on October 29, 2013. Net Optics’ line of passive network monitoring access devices includes taps, bypass switches, regeneration taps, aggregators, data monitoring switches, and media converters. Products are designed and manufactured in the United States. Net Optics' Network Performance Monitoring and Application Flow Monitoring solutions extend visibility and control into the application layer. Eldad Matityahu
Eldad Matityahu (born 1962) is the founder and chairman of the board of Net Optics, a privately held California-based provider of network visibility solutions that allow companies to protect against hacking, intrusion, confidentiality breach and other malicious attacks. Net Optics specializes in designing visibility into networks to address challenges related to virtualization, compliance and security. Early life and business ventures Born and raised in Israel, Matityahu moved to the United States with his parents as a teenager in 1976. He attended high school in Palo Alto, California, and earned a business degree from San Jose State University. His parents ran a restaurant that was only open for breakfast and lunch. Network monitoring is the use of a system that constantly monitors a computer network for slow or failing components and that notifies the network administrator (via email, SMS or other alarms) in case of outages or other trouble. Ixia was a public computer networking company operating in around 25 countries until its acquisition by Keysight Technologies Inc. in 2017. Ixia was headquartered in Calabasas, California and had approximately 1,750 employees. A network tap is a system that monitors events on a local network. A tap is typically a dedicated hardware device, which provides a way to access the data flowing across a computer network. The network tap has (at least) three ports: an ''A port'', a ''B port'', and a ''monitor'' port. Deep packet inspection (DPI) is a type of data processing that inspects in detail the data being sent over a computer network, and may take actions such as alerting, blocking, re-routing, or logging it accordingly.
