Nanjai Uthukuli Canal
Nanjai Uthukuli Canal is an irrigation canal that runs in the southern part of Erode city in Tamil Nadu, Tamil Nadu, India. This canal gets its source of water from Perumpallam Anicut, near Surampatti. This canal irrigates around of farm land by its journey through the areas of Kasipalayam (E), Kasipalayam, Sastri Nagar, Moolapalayam, Erode, Moolapalayam, Nochikattuvalasu, Karukkampalayam, Subbarayavalasu, Lakkapuram, 46 Pudur, Muthugoundenpalayam, Chinniyampalayam, and Nanjai Uthukuli. This canal terminates its journey near the wetland in the north of Savadipalayam Pudur. Impact of urbanization With the higher level of urbanization in Erode, the canal is severely affected by solid wastes and sewerage from the surrounding residential areas. Erode
Erode (; īrōṭu), is a city in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is located on the banks of the Kaveri river and is surrounded by the Western Ghats. Erode is the seventh largest urban agglomeration in Tamil Nadu. Kasipalayam is a neighbourhood locality in the City of Erode. Until 2010, it was an independent Municipal Administrative body with a population of about 55,000 and in 2011, it has been officially combined with the Integrated Erode Municipal Corporation. And presently, this has been converted as the Zonal Headquarters for one of the four zones of Erode Municipal Corporation, combining 15 Wards. Erode City Municipal Corporation is a civic administrative body that governs the City of Erode, India. The Corporation consists of a legislative body, headed by the City Mayor and an executive body headed by the Corporation Commissioner. The Corporation's headquarters is in the Municipal Corporation Building, Erode, near Panneer selvam Park.
