Nan Hutton
Nan Hutton (1917 – 2 May 1984) was a feminist Australian journalist for several magazines, for three Melbourne metropolitan newspapers, and was a book editor for Australian publishers. Biography Born Nancy Estelle Charlholmes, Nan''s debut into journalism was at nine years old in her collaboration with her sister on a news sheet which they sold to neighbours for lollies. During the Second World War she wrote for United States forces based in Melbourne and Brisbane, then postwar in Europe for Radio Australia she was a scriptwriter and broadcaster, and compered 'Mainly for Women' on ABC television in the 1960s. She married Henry Richard Nicholls, son of the Sir Herbert Nicholls, Chief Justice of Tasmania ''Mercury'', in 1946, but they divorced. ''Vogue'' is an American monthly fashion and lifestyle magazine that covers many topics, including haute couture fashion, beauty, culture, living, and runway. Based at One World Trade Center in the Financial District of Lower Manhattan, ''Vogue'' began in 1892 as a weekly newspaper before becoming a monthly magazine years later. Since its founding, ''Vogue'' has featured numerous actors, musicians, models, athletes, and other prominent celebrities. The Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) is the national broadcaster of Australia. It is principally funded by direct grants from the Australian Government and is administered by a government-appointed board. The ABC is a publicly-owned body that is politically independent and fully accountable, with its charter enshrined in legislation, the ''Australian Broadcasting Corporation Act 1983''. ABC Commercial, a profit-making division of the corporation, also helps to generate funding for content provision. The ABC was established as the Australian Broadcasting Commission on 1 July 1932 by an act of federal parliament. It effectively replaced the Australian Broadcasting Company, a private company established in 1924 to provide programming for A-class radio stations. The Lyceum Club, also known as the Australian Association of Lyceum Clubs and formed in 1972 from several smaller clubs, is an Australian arts, literature and social activism group for women only. The aim of the AALC is to promote a spirit of goodwill and understanding within the Association and to enhance the enjoyment of Lyceum by providing opportunities for contact and friendship with members of other Lyceum Clubs. The first Lyceum Club was founded in London, England in 1904 by Constance Smedley. Ethel Osborne founded a Lyceum Club in Melbourne after visiting the London club in 1910, and was elected vice-president during the first meeting on 21 March 1912. Kew, Victoria
Kew (;) is a suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 5 km east from Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Boroondara local government area. Kew recorded a population of 24,499 at the 2021 census. A city in its own right from 1860 to 1994, Kew was amalgamated with the cities of Hawthorn and Camberwell to form the City of Boroondara.
