The Musée Grévin Montreal was a waxwork museum in Montreal located in Montreal Eaton Centre in Ville-Marie, Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It was open daily; an admission fee was charged. History On April 17, 2013, Musée Grévin's parent company, Compagnie des Alpes, opened the museum's first property outside France, Grévin Montréal, at the Montreal Eaton Centre in Montreal, Canada. Similar in scope to the original Paris location, Grévin Montréal features wax adaptations of people relevant to Canadian and Québécois history and culture. The next location of Compagnie des Alpes, Musée Grévin Prague is open since 1 May 2014. The museum was situated in an old cinema complex, which was known as "Famous Players Centre Eaton 6". Louis de Buade, Comte de Frontenac et de Palluau (; 22 May 162228 November 1698) was a French soldier, courtier, and Governor General of New France in North America from 1672 to 1682, and again from 1689 to his death in 1698. He established a number of forts on the Great Lakes and engaged in a series of battles against the Kingdom of England, English and the Iroquois. In his first term, he supported the expansion of the fur trade, establishing Fort Frontenac (in what is now Kingston, Ontario) and came into conflict with the other members of the Sovereign Council of New France, Sovereign Council over its expansion and over the corvées required to build the new forts. Yoko Ono
Yoko Ono ( ; ja, 小野 洋子, Ono Yōko, usually spelled in katakana ; born February 18, 1933) is a Japanese multimedia artist, singer, songwriter, and peace activist. Her work also encompasses performance art and filmmaking. Ono grew up in Tokyo and moved to New York City in 1953 with her family. She became involved with New York City's downtown artists scene in the early 1960s, which included the Fluxus group, and became well known in 1969 when she married English musician John Lennon of the Beatles. The Bed-ins for Peace were two week-long nonviolent protests against wars, intended as experimental tests of new ways to promote peace. As the Vietnam War raged in 1969, John Lennon and his wife Yoko Ono held one protest at the Hilton Hotel in Amsterdam and one at the Queen Elizabeth Hotel in Montreal. The idea is derived from a "sit-in", in which a group of protesters remain seated in front of or within an establishment until they are evicted, arrested, or their requests are met. The public proceedings were filmed, and later turned into a documentary ''Bed Peace'', which was made available for free on YouTube in August 2011 by Yoko Ono, as part of her website "Imagine Peace".
