Mosman Bay Ferry Wharf
Mosman Bay ferry wharf is located on Mosman Bay on the northern side of Sydney Harbour serving the Sydney suburb of Mosman. It is served by Sydney Ferries Mosman services operated by First Fleet class ferries. History The first regular ferry service was arranged by property developer Richard Harnett in the early 1870s. A tram service to the wharf commenced in March 1897. At the same and in anticipation of increased demand from a developing and increasingly prosperous Mosman area, Sydney Ferries Limited improved frequency of ferries from Circular Quay. In addition to Mosman Wharf, ferries on that route serviced Musgrave Street Wharf (now South Mosman) and Cremorne Wharf (renamed '' Old Cremorne'') with the opening of the Cremorne Point wharf and its tram connection in 1911. First Fleet Ferry Class
The First Fleet class is a class of ferry operated by Transdev Sydney Ferries on Sydney Harbour. History In the early 1980s, the Urban Transit Authority ordered nine catamaran ferries from Carrington Slipways, Tomago. They were to replace the '' K-class'' and wooden ''Lady'' class ferries on Sydney Harbour. The new vessels were named after ships of the First Fleet and were delivered between 1984 and 1986. It was originally intended that they would operate services on the Parramatta River, but they generated too much wash. In 2006/07, the class were repowered with MTU Series 60 engines. Today, all nine remain in service with Transdev Sydney Ferries. In 2020, the then 35-year old ferries underwent a major facelift to provide them with another 10 years of service. Sydney Ferries Limited operated ferry services on Sydney Harbour from 1900 until June 1951. The company grew out of the North Shore Steam Ferry Company and took over smaller ferry operators to become the largest ferry operator in Sydney's history. Without a physical connection across the harbour, demand for ferry services to developing areas on the North Shore rose dramatically and Sydney Ferries commissioned 27 large ferries in its own right between 1900 and 1922. The company named its vessels with Australian Aboriginal words beginning with "K". The 1932 opening of the Sydney Harbour Bridge saw the companies annual patronage drop from 40 million to 15 million. Cremorne Point Ferry Wharf
Cremorne Point ferry wharf is located on the northern side of Sydney Harbour serving the Sydney suburb of Cremorne Point. It is served by Sydney Ferries Mosman services operated by First Fleet class ferries. In June 2007, the wharf sank during a storm. It reopened in September 2007. On 8 October 2014, the wharf closed for a rebuild. The existing wharf was demolished, with a new one built reopening on 5 February 2015. Old Cremorne Ferry Wharf
Old Cremorne ferry wharf is located on the northern side of Port Jackson, Sydney Harbour serving the Sydney suburb of Cremorne, New South Wales, Cremorne. Old Cremorne Wharf, in Mosman Bay on the eastern side of Cremorne Point, was built in the nineteenth century, before the 1911 opening of Cremorne Point ferry wharf, Cremorne Point Wharf with tram connection on the western end of the Point. The original wharf was at the current location of the Sydney Amateur Sailing Club, but was relocated slightly north to its current location before 1905.
