Moruya Rugby League Football Club is an Australian rugby league football club based in Moruya, New South Wales formed in 1925. They conduct teams for both Juniors & Seniors competitions. The two towns met again for a rugby league match in July 1926, playing a challenge match for the Lord Mayor's Cup. The same opponents played for the Retail Traders' Cup in September 1927. In August 1928, Moruya defeated Milton to retain the Toohey Cup. In 1929, Moruya entered in a Far South Coast rugby league competition with Bemboka, Cobargo, Eden, Pambula, Tathra and two Bega teams, the Federals and Waratahs. Moruya is a town located on the far south coast of New South Wales, Australia, situated on the Moruya River. The Princes Highway runs through the town that is about south of Sydney and from Canberra. At the , Moruya had a population of 4,295. Its built up area had a population of 2,762. The town relies predominantly on agriculture, aquaculture, and tourism. Moruya is administered by the Eurobodalla Shire Council and the shire chambers are located in the town. Rural areas around Moruya were affected by the 2019–20 Australian bushfire season. History The South Coast region of New South Wales is the traditional home of the Yuin people, with the area in and around Moruya home to the Bugelli-Manji clan. Michael Weyman
Michael Weyman (born 13 September 1984) is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer. Weyman is the older brother of former Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks player, Tim Weyman. Playing career Born in Moruya, New South Wales, Weyman played his junior football for the Moruya Sharks. While attending Carroll College in 2001 and Erindale College in 2002, Weyman was selected for the Australian Schoolboys team and was captain of the team. In 2002 and 2003, Weyman was selected for the Junior Kangaroos team and played for the New South Wales U19s in 2003. National Rugby League Weyman was signed by the Canberra Raiders. In round 10 of the 2003 NRL season he made his NRL debut for Canberra against the Penrith Panthers. Rhys Kennedy (born 11 October 1994) is a professional rugby league footballer who plays as a forward for the London Broncos in the Betfred Super League. He played for the South Sydney Rabbitohs and Brisbane Broncos in the National Rugby League (NRL). Background Kennedy was born in Moruya, New South Wales, Australia. ''The Cobargo Chronicle'' was and English language newspaper published in Cobargo, New South Wales, Australia. Newspaper history ''The Cobargo Chronicle'' was a weekly newspaper first published on 18 November 1898 by William Boot in Cobargo, New South Wales. The newspaper was originally titled ''The Cobargo Chronicle and South Coast Journal'' and was devoted to "the interests of the Dairying, Mining and Agricultural industries established in the large and populous district in which it circulates". Subscriptions were priced at one pound per annum and the paper was printed Friday mornings from the offices situated on Moruya Road, Cobargo. South Coast (New South Wales)
The South Coast refers to the narrow coastal belt from Shoalhaven district in the north to the border with Victoria in the south in the south-eastern part of the State of New South Wales, Australia. It is bordered to the west by the coastal escarpment of the Southern Tablelands, and is largely covered by a series of national parks, namely Jervis Bay National Park, Eurobodalla National Park, and Beowa National Park. To the east is the coastline of the Pacific Ocean, which is characterised by rolling farmlands, small towns and villages along a rocky coastline, interspersed by numerous beaches and lakes.
