Brian Eno
Brian Peter George St John le Baptiste de la Salle Eno (; born Brian Peter George Eno, 15 May 1948) is a British musician, composer, record producer and visual artist best known for his contributions to ambient music and work in rock, pop and electronica. A self-described "non-musician", Eno has helped introduce unconventional concepts and approaches to contemporary music. He has been described as one of popular music's most influential and innovative figures. Born in Suffolk, Eno studied painting and experimental music at the art school of Ipswich Civic College in the mid 1960s, and then at Winchester School of Art. He joined glam rock group Roxy Music as its synthesiser player in 1971, recording two albums with the group before departing in 1973. ''Music for Films Volume 2'' is a compilation album by Brian Eno. On the back cover Eno states, "I released the first volume of Music for Films in 1978, and it contained samples of my work, spanning the period of 1975-78. This second volume picks up where the first left off, but is somewhat different in that it contains fewer pieces with greater average length." The majority of tracks on this album also appear on '' Apollo: Atmospheres and Soundtracks''. Russell Mills is a British artist who was born in Ripon, Yorkshire, England in 1952. He has produced record covers and book covers for Brian Eno, the Cocteau Twins, Michael Nyman, David Sylvian, Peter Gabriel, and Nine Inch Nails. As a recording artist, he has collaborated with many musicians, for example David Sylvian, Ian McCulloch and Peter Gabriel. ''Music for Films'' is the seventh solo studio album by British musician Brian Eno, released in 1978 and following his ambient album '' Ambient 1: Music for Airports''. It is a conceptual work intended as a soundtrack for imaginary films, although many of the pieces had already appeared in actual films. Content The album is a loose compilation of material from the period 1975 to 1978, composed of short tracks ranging from one-and-a-half minutes to just over four, making it the antithesis of the long, sprawling, ambient pieces he later became known for. Roger Eugene Eno (born in Woodbridge, England, in 1959) is an English ambient music composer. He is the brother of Brian Eno. Early life and education Roger Eno began euphonium lessons when he was 12 years old, and entered Colchester Institute to study music when he was 16. Upon graduating, and after a period of busking in London (where he briefly shared a house with artists Mark Wallinger and Andy Dog), Eno returned to Colchester to run a music therapy course at a local hospital for people with learning difficulties. Daniel Roland Lanois ( , ; born September 19, 1951) is a Canadian record producer, guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter.
