Mohamad Bazzi
Mohamad Bazzi ( ar, محمد بزي) is a Lebanese-American journalist. He is the former Middle East bureau chief at ''Newsday'' and a current faculty member of New York University. Bazzi was the 2007-2008 Edward R. Murrow Press Fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations. He is currently an adjunct senior fellow for Middle East Studies at the Council on Foreign Relations. While at ''Newsday'' Bazzi covered the Middle East, Afghanistan, and Pakistan, where he focused on militant Islamic movements, regional politics, and the war on terrorism. He was Newsday's lead writer on the Iraq war and its aftermath. The South Asian Journalists Association (SAJA) was founded in 1994 in New York City. Sree Sreenivisan, Dilip Massand, M.K. Srinivasan and Om Malik co-founded SAJA as a networking organization for South Asian journalists. It is a group of more than 1,000 journalists of South Asian origin in the U.S. and Canada. South Asia refers to India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, the Maldives, Bangladesh, Bhutan, and Nepal. SAJA is a not-for-profit organization, governed by a Board of Directors which appoints its executive officers. As of January 2022, the President of SAJA is Sabrina Malhi. The American Academy of Diplomacy is a private, nonprofit, non-partisan, elected organization whose active membership is limited to men and women who have held positions of high responsibility in crafting and implementing American foreign policy. They have served the United States as chiefs of mission in major embassies abroad, and/or equivalent high-level foreign policy positions in Washington. Founded in 1983, the Academy focuses the expertise of its members on the pursuit of excellence in the practice of American diplomacy.
