Mogens Bøggild
Mogens Kruse Bøggild (11 June 1901 – 25 April 1987) was a Danish sculptor. He specialized in figures of animals, including the granite ''Grisebrønden'' (Pig Fountain) in Aarhus which he created from 1941 to 1950. Biography Born in Hillerød, after being introduced to painting by Karl Jensen at the local Technical School, Bøggild studied under Einar Utzon-Frank at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. Showing a particular interest in Italian Renaissance art, he was inspired by the works of Theodor Philipsen and J.Th. Lundbye as well as by Joakim Skovgaard's more recent ''Dragespringvand''. Karl Jensen (painter)
Karl Georg Jensen (22 November 1851 – 23 May 1933) was a Danish painter. He is remembered for his landscapes of northern Zealand and for his architectural interiors. Biography Born in Holstebro, Jensen studied painting at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, graduating in 1879. He also received private tuition from Harald Foss and in the early 1880s assisted Lorenz Frølich with his decorations in Frederiksborg Palace. In the 1880s, he became interested in architectural painting and created colourful interiors for churches and palaces such as ''Audenssalen på Rosenborg'' (Audience Hall at Rosenborg, 1889). Karl Madsen aroused his interest in world art, leading him to study Japanese art while in Paris in 1889. From 1892, he was a member of Den Frie Udstilling. Jensen was not very productive but his work comprising some 200 paintings has placed him among Denmark's most significant colourists, on a par with Christen Købke. An academy (Attic Greek: Ἀκαδήμεια; Koine Greek Ἀκαδημία) is an institution of secondary or tertiary higher learning (and generally also research or honorary membership). The name traces back to Plato's school of philosophy, founded approximately 385 BC at Akademia, a sanctuary of Athena, the goddess of wisdom and skill, north of Athens, Greece. Etymology The word comes from the ''Academy'' in ancient Greece, which derives from the Athenian hero, ''Akademos''. Outside the city walls of Athens, the gymnasium was made famous by Plato as a center of learning. Thorvaldsen Medal
The Thorvaldsen Medal ( Danish: Thorvaldsens Medalje, Thorvaldsen Medaillen) is awarded annually with few exceptions to a varying number of recipients by the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and is its highest distinction within the visual arts. It is named after the sculptor Bertel Thorvaldsen. The medal was founded in 1837 as the Exhibition Medal and awarded for talented works in the Charlottenborg Spring Exhibition in the Charlottenborg Palace. In 1866, it was renamed the Thorvaldsen Exhibition Medal ( da, Thorvaldsenske Udstillings-Medaille), and from 1923 it has been known under its current name. Einar Utzon-Frank
Aksel (Axel) Einar (Ejnar) Utzon-Frank (30 March 1888 – 15 July 1955) was a Danish sculptor and professor at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. During his lifetime, he produced many sculptures, some of which stand as public monuments. Utzon-Frank was son of Jens Christian Frank and Anna Cathrine Utzon. Anna Cathrine was sister to the grandfather of Pritzker Prize-winning architect Jørn Utzon. Career Einar Utzon-Frank was born in the Frederiksberg district of Copenhagen in 1888, the son of Jens Christian Frank and Anna Cathrine Utzon. Utzon-Frank began his artistic life as a painter but changed direction to become a sculptor. He was admitted to the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 1906, where he became a close friend of the somewhat older Kai Nielsen.
