Mobike
Mobike ( zh, s=摩拜单车, p=mó bài dān chē), also known as Meituanbike, founded by Beijing Mobike Technology Co., Ltd. ( zh, s=北京摩拜科技有限公司), is a fully station-less bicycle-sharing system headquartered in Beijing, China. It is, by the number of bicycles, the world's largest shared (for hire) bicycle operator, making Shanghai the world's largest bike-share city in December 2016. In April 2018, it was acquired by a Chinese web company Meituan-Dianping for US$2.7 billion. History In 2015, Mobike was established by a former journalist Hu Weiwei. Hu Weiwei (entrepreneur)
Hu Weiwei (, born 1982) is a Chinese journalist and businesswoman. She is a co-founder of bicycle-sharing company Mobike. Personal Hu was born in Dongyang in 1982. She studied at the Department of Journalism of the Zhejiang City College (2000–2004) and graduated with a bachelor of communication. Hu has a son who was born in circa 2010. Career Hu worked for the ''Daily Economic News'' (每经网), a Chinese business newspaper, mainly covering tech news on cars. She then worked for ''The Beijing News'' and for ''Business Value'' specialising in technology news. In 2014 Hu founded the media platform GeekCar. Through her contacts in the automobile and technology sector, Hu assembled a team in late 2015 to start a bicycle-sharing company and launched Mobike in January 2016. Yu Liu ( Chinese: 刘禹; born in 1986), also known as Eric Liu, is a Chinese entrepreneur and the founder of One Cloud Technologies (operations and patents acquired by Alibaba Group). A bicycle-sharing system, bike share program, public bicycle scheme, or public bike share (PBS) scheme, is a shared transport service where bicycles are available for shared use by individuals at low cost. The programmes themselves include both docking and dockless systems, where docking systems allow users to rent a bike from a dock, i.e., a technology-enabled bicycle rack and return at another node or dock within the system — and dockless systems, which offer a node-free system relying on smart technology.
