Mission Valley Athletic League
The Mission Valley Athletic League (commonly abbreviated MVAL) is a collaboration of eight schools, of which seven are in the Tri-Cities area of Fremont, Newark and Union City, California and one is in Hayward. The MVAL is part of the Bay Shore Conference in the North Coast Section (NCS). Affiliations Participating schools There are eight participating schools in this athletic league. There are five schools in Fremont: American, Irvington, Kennedy, Mission, and Washington. There is one school each in the cities of Hayward, Newark and Union City – Moreau, Newark Memorial and James Logan, respectively. Sports affiliations In autumn the league sponsors football, girls' and boys' cross-country, girls' tennis, girls' and boys' water polo and girls' volleyball along with girls' golf. Newark Memorial High School
Newark Memorial High School (NMHS) is a comprehensive high school in Newark, California, United States. It is part of the Newark Unified School District (NUSD). History Newark Memorial High School was formed in 1983 as part of a school consolidation program instituted by NUSD. Prior to this, Newark had two high schools (Newark High School on Lafayette Avenue, and Memorial High School on Cedar Boulevard) and two "intermediate schools" for grades 78 (M. D. Silva Intermediate School on Thornton Avenue and John I. MacGregor Intermediate School on Cedar Boulevard). In 1983, both M. D. Silva and John I. CIF North Coast Section
The North Coast Section (NCS) is a part of the California Interscholastic Federation, governing the eastern portion of the San Francisco Bay Area, up along the northern coast of the state of California, from Fremont in the south to Crescent City in the north. It also governs the private schools in the city of Oakland. Due to this split in regions, the section is split in two for some championships, including football. Governance The section is governed by a board of managers, whose voting members include representatives from member leagues, superintendents, school board associations and private schools. There are 155 full member schools, assigned to leagues or conferences according to NCS Alignment and Classification Bylaws developed by the schools. Moreau Catholic High School is a college preparatory Roman Catholic secondary school sponsored by the Moreau Province of the Congregation of the Holy Cross.
