Miss Venezuela 1972 was the 19th edition of Miss Venezuela pageant held at Teatro Paris (now called Teatro La Campiña) in Caracas, Venezuela, on July 12, 1972. Venevision aired the pageant for first time. Gilberto Correa and Liliana Cortijo co-hosted the event. María Antonieta Cámpoli
María Antonieta Cámpoli Prisco (born October 9, 1955 in Italy) is an Italian-Venezuelan pageant titleholder, who was ''Miss Venezuela'' in 1972. Biography Maria Antonietta Cámpoli was born in Isola del Liri (an ancient city of Latium, located nearly 100 km south of Rome) in 1955, but after 3 years her family moved to live in Caracas where she grew. At the age of just 17 she was elected Miss Venezuela. But there was a huge scandal when her age was officially known, because by law she was not allowed to participate being less than 18 years old ("menor de edad") and additionally she was not born in Venezuela. It was the president Rafael Caldera who allowed her to maintain the title arguing even that she was "Venezuelan by birth", because she had moved to Venezuela when she was less than five years old. Zulia
Zulia State ( es, Estado Zulia, ; Wayuu: ''Mma’ipakat Suuria'') is one of the 23 states of Venezuela. The state capital is Maracaibo. As of the 2011 census, it has a population of 3,704,404, the largest population among Venezuela's states. Táchira (state)
Táchira State ( es, Estado Táchira, ) is one of the 23 states of Venezuela. The state capital is San Cristóbal. Táchira State covers a total surface area of and as of the 2011 census, had a population of 1,168,908. At the end of the 19th century, Táchira State was where oil was discovered in Venezuela. Currently, its main economic revenues come from the production of coffee and pineapple. The cattle and agricultural activities play an important role in Táchira's economy. There is also a strong industrial sector which focuses on the processing of potato, sugar, milk, and cheese and the production of textiles. Bolívar ( es, Estado Bolívar, ) is one of the 23 states of Venezuela. The state capital city is Ciudad Bolívar, but the largest city is Ciudad Guayana. Apure
Apure State ( es, Estado Apure, ) is one of the 23 states of Venezuela. Its territory formed part of the provinces of Mérida, Maracaibo, and Barinas, in accordance with successive territorial ordinations pronounced by the colonial authorities. In 1824 the Department of Apure was created, under jurisdiction of Barinas, which laid the foundations for the current entity. In 1856 it separated from Barinas and for the first time Apure appeared as an independent province, which in 1864 acquired the status of state.
