Mio Min Mio (film)
''Mio in the Land of Faraway'' ( sv, Mio min Mio; russian: Мио, мой Мио, Mio, moy Mio) is a 1987 fantasy film directed by Vladimir Grammatikov and starring Christopher Lee, Christian Bale, Nicholas Pickard, Timothy Bottoms and Susannah York. Based on the 1954 novel '' Mio, My Son'' by Astrid Lindgren, it tells the story of a boy from Stockholm who travels to an otherworldly fantasy realm and frees the land from an evil knight's oppression. ''Mio in the Land of Faraway'' was co-produced by companies from Sweden, Norway and the Soviet Union with a budget of about fifty million Swedish kronor, making it the most expensive film adaptation of an Astrid Lindgren book during her lifetime. Vladimir Alexandrovich Grammatikov (russian: Владимир Алeксандpoвич Грамматикoв; born 1 June 1942) is a Russian and Soviet theater and film actor, director, screenwriter and producer. Honored Artist of the Russian Federation (1995). Biography Vladimir Grammatikov was born 1 June 1942 in Sverdlovsk. He graduated from the construction faculty of radio Bauman College in Moscow, and then decided to link his lives with cinematography. Sandrew Metronome is a Scandinavian film distribution company formed in the 1990s. It was one of the biggest distributor companies in the Nordic countries. Sandrew Metronome was established by the Swedish company Sandrews and the Danish Metronome. Later the Norwegian media company Schibsted acquired Metronome and became joint owner with Sandrews. Schibsted gained sole owner in 2006, but later divested its holdings of Sandrew Metronome to a group of investors and its former CEO in 2013. Between 2005 and 2007 Sandrew Metronome sold its cinemas.
