Midland Railway Station, Perth
Midland railway station is the terminus of the Midland line in Perth. Western Australia. It is operated by Transperth and is connected with the feeder bus services that utilise the adjacent bus terminal in Midland. History Midland station was opened on 8 October 1968 by Minister for Transport & Railways Ray O'Connor as a replacement for Midland Junction station when the main Eastern Railway was being converted to dual gauge. It originally had four narrow gauge platform faces, three terminating and one through. A separate platform was provided for the standard gauge line 150 metres away. One of the terminating lines was lifted in the 1990s and in February 2001, the through line converted to dual gauge allowing ''The Prospector'' to call at the main station. Midland is a suburb in the Perth metropolitan region, as well as the regional centre for the City of Swan local government area that covers the Swan Valley and parts of the Darling Scarp to the east. Abernethy Road is a long minor arterial road linking Belmont with the Great Eastern Highway Bypass in Hazelmere, a suburb of Perth, Western Australia. It runs along the eastern boundary of the Perth Airport area. It serves as an alternative access road for Perth Airport (via Grogan Road), and provides the foothills suburbs with alternative access to the Perth central business district. High Wycombe Station is a bus and railway station in High Wycombe, a suburb of Perth, Western Australia. It opened on 9 October 2022. Merredin railway station is located on the Eastern Goldfields Railway in Western Australia. It is in the town of Merredin. History The original Merredin station opened in 1895. It was an important station on the Eastern Goldfields Railway, being the junction station for a number of lines to locations in the Wheatbelt and Goldfields regions. The main eastern railway connected with Northam to the west, and to Southern Cross to the east. ''The Prospector'' is a rural passenger train service in Western Australia operated by Transwa between East Perth and Kalgoorlie. On this service, two trains depart almost at the same time in opposite directions, one travelling between East Perth and Kalgoorlie, and the other between Kalgoorlie and East Perth. The original vehicles ordered in 1968 for trains providing this service were replaced in 2004 with vehicles capable of reducing journey times to 6 hours 45 minutes.
