Ivan Fyodorovich Michurin
Ivan Fyodorovich Michurin (1700–1763) was a Russian architect whose designs marked a transition of Russian architecture from early Muscovite Baroque to mature Rastrelliesque style. Michurin studied in the Naval Academy (1718–1720) and was apprenticed to Nicola Michetti before completing his education in Holland (1723–1729). He worked primarily in Moscow, devising the first general plaof that city between 1734 and 1739. His best-known original building could be the main church of Svensky Monastery in Bryansk, although its attribution is disputed. He was also responsible for the belfry of St. Clement's Church in Moscow. Empress Elizabeth sent him to Kiev to realize Rastrelli's design of Saint Andrew Church and Mariinskyi Palace, now Ukrainian President Palace for official government visits. Ivan Vladimirovich Michurin
Ivan Vladimirovich Michurin (russian: Иван Владимирович Мичурин) ( – June 7, 1935) was a Russian practitioner of selection to produce new types of crop plants, Honorable Member of the Soviet Academy of Sciences, and academician of the Lenin All-Union Academy of Agriculture. Throughout all his life, Michurin worked to create new sorts of fruit plants. He introduced over 300 new varieties. He was awarded the Order of Lenin and Order of the Red Banner of Labour for his achievements. The town of Michurinsk is named in his honor, as was the Bulgarian town of Tsarevo between 1950 and 1991. Life and work In 1875, Michurin leased a strip of land of about 500 square metres not far from Tambov, began collecting plants, and started his research in pomology and selection. World records in athletics are ratified by World Athletics. Athletics records comprise the best performances in the sports of track and field, road running and racewalking. Records are kept for all events contested at the Olympic Games and some others. Unofficial records for some other events are kept by track and field statisticians. The only non-metric track distance for which official records are kept is the mile run. Criteria The criteria which must be satisfied for ratification of a world record are defined by World Athletics in Part III of the Competition Rules.
