Michael McCarthy (choirmaster)
Michael McCarthy is Director of Music at Washington National Cathedral. Previously, he was the founding director of the London Oratory School Schola at the London Oratory in London. In addition to liturgical duties, the Schola recorded for the film scores of ''Sleepy Hollow (film), Sleepy Hollow'', The Lord of the Rings (film series), ''The Lord of the Rings'' film trilogy, and the Harry Potter series. McCarthy also worked with The Sixteen, the Gabrieli Consort, The Cardinall's Musick and the Monteverdi Choir. As a composer/arranger, his music was featured at the funerals of Presidents Ronald Reagan, Gerald R. Ford, and George H. W. Bush, and the service for the second inauguration of George W. Bush, all events held at Washington National Cathedral. Michael P. McCarthy (born March 21, 1953) is a professional football executive and scout. He was born in Oneida, New York and raised in Rome, New York. McCarthy began playing football at Rome (NY) Free Academy H.S. where he earned All-State football honours and was an all-star in lacrosse and wrestling. Currently, he is a pro football player personnel consultant. McCarthy's career highlights include; induction into the Rome Sports Hall of Fame for lifetime achievement in sports (1992); induction into the Scouts Hall of Fame; and his 2008, induction into Southwestern College's Athletic Hall of Fame. Other highlights include being named the youngest general manager ever to win a CFL championship when the Toronto Argonauts captured the Grey Cup in 1991; pulling off one of the largest trades in the history of professional football when he orchestrated a deal with the Edmonton Eskimos, which saw 16 players switch teams. Michael McCarthy (born 13 September 1950) is the bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Rockhampton. He was previously a priest of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Brisbane. He was consecrated by Archbishop Mark Coleridge at St Joseph's Cathedral, Rockhampton on 29 May 2014. Early life Michael McCarthy was born in Toowoomba on 13 September 1950 and was the son of dairy farmers Fabian McCarthy and Rita (nee White). He spent his early years on the family's dairy farm in Greenmount. He received his primary education at Greenmount State School and secondary education at Downlands Sacred Heart College in Toowoomba. He graduated from the Queensland Institute of Technology, Darling Downs, in 1970 with a Bachelor of Applied Science and worked as an industrial chemist for BHP in Newcastle from 1971 until 1975. Michael John Fitzgerald McCarthy (born in Midleton, County Cork (1864 – 26 October 1928) was an Irish lawyer and an anti-clerical author. Youth McCarthy was the son of Denis and Catherine McCarthy. In 1887 he married Margaret Ronayne of Donickmore, near Midleton. He was educated at the Vincentian seminary in Cork City, at Midleton College and took a B.A. at Trinity College Dublin in 1885. In 1887 he was called to the Irish Bar. Author Notably and almost uniquely for an Irish nationalist, McCarthy was opposed to the increasing social influence of the Roman Catholic Church in Ireland, on the approach to Irish independence. As the Catholic Church still controls most Irish schools and universities, his books and independent stance have not received much attention in the last century. Michael John McCarthy (born November 10, 1963) is an American football coach who is the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys of the National Football League (NFL). From 2006 to 2018, he was the head coach of the Green Bay Packers. In 2011, he led the team to a win in Super Bowl XLV over his hometown Pittsburgh Steelers. He was previously the offensive coordinator for the San Francisco 49ers and New Orleans Saints. Michael McCarthy (8 May 1965 – 5 February 1998) was an Irish Gaelic footballer. At club level he played with O'Donovan Rossa and divisional side Carbery and was also a member of the Cork senior football team. Early life Born and raised in Skibbereen, County Cork, Mick first played as a schoolboy in various juvenile competitions at St. Patrick's Boys' National School before later lining out as a student at St. Fachtna's De La Salle College in Cork. Michael Joseph McCarthy (born 7 February 1959) is a professional football manager, pundit, and former player. He was last in charge of EFL Championship club Cardiff City. McCarthy began his playing career at Barnsley in 1977, and he later had spells at Manchester City, Celtic, Lyon, and finally Millwall, retiring in 1992. Born and raised in England, he represented the Republic of Ireland, for whom he earned 57 caps and played at UEFA Euro 1988 and the 1990 FIFA World Cup. Mick McCarthy (22 December 1911 – 21 May 1973) was an Ireland international footballer who played as a goalkeeper. He spent the majority of his career playing in the League of Ireland for Shamrock Rovers, helping the club win three league titles and three FAI Cups. Playing career Club career McCarthy originally came from Blackrock, Cork and as a youth he played hurling as well as association football. He played for Cork Bohemians and Fordsons before signing for Shamrock Rovers on 6 November 1931. A number of Scottish clubs, as well as Birmingham City, made enquiries about signing him before he opted to join Rovers. In 1931–32 he was part of Rovers team that won the treble, winning the League of Ireland, the FAI Cup and the League of Ireland Shield.
