Metrosexual (film)
''Metrosexual'' ( Thai: แก๊งชะนีกับอีแอบ or ''Gaeng chanee gup ee-aep'') is a 2006 Thai romantic comedy film about four women who believe their best friend is about to marry a man who is gay. The film was directed by Yongyooth Thongkongtoon, who also directed ''The Iron Ladies''. The five female leads all co-host a daytime talk show on Thai TV Channel 3. Plot Four friends each receive phone calls to meet a fifth friend for lunch at MK Restaurant, a popular hot pot chain in Bangkok. The friends are: * Pom, a reporter for a women's magazine. * Nim, a sexual dysfunction telephone-hotline counselor. * Fai, the stingy owner of a beauty salon. * Pat, the fiancée of a retired Japanese man. Yongyooth Thongkongtoon
Yongyoot Thongkongtoon ( th, ยงยุทธ ทองกองทุน; born February 18, 1967) is a Thai film director, producer, and screenwriter. He made his debut in 2000 with the sports comedy ''The Iron Ladies''. Biography Yongyoot Thongkongtoon graduated from Chulalongkorn University, with a bachelor's degree in Communication Arts (Broadcasting), in Bangkok. His debut feature in 2000 was ''The Iron Ladies'', a fact-based sports comedy about a volleyball team of gay and transgender men. The film won several awards in Thailand and at film festivals, including the Thailand National Film Association Awards and a special mention Teddy Award at the 2001 Berlin Film Festival. ''Metrosexual'' is a portmanteau of ''metropolitan'' and '' sexual'' coined in 1994, describing a man of ambiguous sexuality, (especially one living in an urban, post-industrial, capitalist culture) who is especially meticulous about his grooming and appearance, typically spending a significant amount of time and money on shopping as part of this. The term references uncertainty as to whether a metrosexual is heterosexual, gay or a bisexual man. Mime Artist
A mime artist, or simply mime (from Greek , , "imitator, actor"), is a person who uses ''mime'' (also called ''pantomime'' outside of Britain), the acting out of a story through body motions without the use of speech, as a theatrical medium or as a performance art. In earlier times, in English, such a performer would typically be referred to as a mummer. Miming is distinguished from silent comedy, in which the artist is a character in a film or skit without sound. Bangkok's Chinatown is one of the largest Chinatowns in the world. It was founded in 1782 when the city was established as the capital of the Rattanakosin Kingdom, and served as the home of the mainly Teochew immigrant Chinese population, who soon became the city's dominant ethnic group. He has directed three films, ''Mekhong Full Moon Party'', ''The Tin Mine'' and ''Seven Something'' (part 42.195), and was the screenwriter behind the international hit, ''The Iron Ladies''. Yano Khasogi
Yano is a Filipino folk/ punk rock band formed in 1993. The band members were originally composed of Dong Abay on vocals and Eric Gancio on guitar. Onie Badiang later joined them to play bass. Nowie Favila was the usual drummer but declined to join the group due to commitments with Ang Grupong Pendong. Other drummers of the band included Nonong Timbalopez, Harley Alarcon and Jun Nogoy. The band got their name when Abay looked through an entry in "''Talahulugang Pilipino''", an old Tagalog dictionary. "Yano" in Tagalog means "simple", a term often used by Tagalog speakers in the province of Quezon. The group disbanded in 1997 after Abay left the band. Eric Gancio reformed Yano in 2007.
