Eric Meijers
Eric Meijers (born 6 August 1963) is a Dutch football manager. Coaching career Meijers is mostly known for his ten-year spell as head coach of Achilles '29, which he turned into a mainstay of Dutch amateur football and a national Topklasse in 2012, for which he was awarded the Rinus Michels Award as best amateur coach of the year. His successes in 2012 won him interest from Eerste Divisie professionals Helmond Sport, who hired him as new head coach for the 2012–13 season in a one-year contract. Thanks also to five wins in the first five games of the seasons, Helmond ended the season in an impressive fourth place, but was defeated by Sparta Rotterdam in the promotion playoffs. Meijers could not repeat his positive performances in the following seasons, as he was dismissed in September 2013 due to poor results after a home loss to Almere City FC. Eduard Maurits Meijers (10 January 1880, Den Helder – 25 June 1954 in Leiden) was a Dutch jurist of Jewish background, who was the founding father of the current Dutch civil code, the Nieuw Burgerlijk Wetboek. Biography Family He was the son of Isidor Meijers, a naval physician, and Julie Wolff. Eduard married Tonij Gottschalk on 12 August 1909. The couple would get four daughters. Career In 1897 Meijers entered the University of Amsterdam to study law. He finished his doctorate under Johannes Houwing in April 1903. His dissertation had an emphasis on philosophy, defending utilitarianism against Kant's rationalism and posing that in general well-being should be the final goal of every law institution. Paul "Pauke" Meijers (2 June 193414 October 2013) was a Dutch football player. Club career A right winger, Meijers followed in his father Hendrik's footsteps and started his career at NEC Nijmegen, making his professional debut against Rigtersbleek in September 1954 and joined Feyenoord from De Graafschap in 1957 for a then Dutch record 55,000 Dutch guilders and went on to play 98 official games for the Rotterdammers. He also had spells at De Graafschap, NAC Breda and AGOVV. International career Meijers made his debut for the Netherlands in a September 1953 friendly match against Norway. Aaron Meijers (born 28 October 1987) is a Dutch professional Association football, footballer who plays as a Full back (association football), left back for Eredivisie club Sparta Rotterdam. He formerly played for FC Volendam, RKC Waalwijk and ADO Den Haag. Club career Meijers was born in Delft. Aged six he moved to Andijk, where he started playing for AVV Andijk (now Sporting Andijk). In 2000 Meijers joined FC Volendam. After four years in the first team of FC Volendam he moved to RKC Waalwijk. With both FC Volendam and RKC Waalwijk Meijers won the Eerste Divisie. In 2012 Meijers went to ADO Den Haag. For the 2020–21 season, he was loaned to Sparta Rotterdam. After returning to ADO Den Haag and beginning the 2021–22 season there, on 30 August 2021 he returned to Sparta on a permanent basis.
