Mechani-Kong
is a remote-controlled robot double of King Kong#King Kong (Toho), King Kong introduced in the 1966 animated television series ''The King Kong Show'' and featured again in the 1967 film ''King Kong Escapes''. The robot was created by Dr. Who (who is not to be confused with Doctor Who, the British television series or The Doctor (Doctor Who), its main character) to try to replicate the giant ape King Kong. Overview In the Toho movie ''King Kong Escapes'', Mechani-Kong was built by Dr. Who to dig for Element X, a large core containing a natural abundance of nuclear power. However, Mechani-Kong was not resistant enough to dig out the element, as the robot's circuits were destroyed by its magnetic waves. Dr. Who then kidnaps the real Kong to dig for the element, placing him in a Altered state of consciousness, hypnotic trance. King Kong Escapes
is a 1967 Kaiju, ''kaiju'' film directed by Ishirō Honda, with special effects by Eiji Tsuburaya. The film was a Cinema of Japan, Japanese–Cinema of the United States, American co-production between Toho and Rankin/Bass Animated Entertainment, Rankin/Bass, and stars Rhodes Reason, Linda Jo Miller, Linda Miller, Akira Takarada, Mie Hama, Eisei Amamoto, with Haruo Nakajima as King Kong and Hiroshi Sekita as Mechani-Kong and Gorosaurus. The film is loosely based on Rankin/Bass' series, ''The King Kong Show'', and was the second and final Toho-produced film featuring King Kong.
