Ada Meade
Ada Meade Saffarans (1884 - February 4, 1965) was an American actress known professionally as Ada Meade. She performed professionally in comic drama, comic opera, and musical comedy. Early years Meade was born in 1884 in Lexington, Kentucky. Her father was Daniel T. Saffarans. Her mother was Ada Coles Meade Saffarrans, whose father was a planter in Mississippi and whose grandfather had been acting governor of Mississippi in the early 1800s. Mrs. Saffrans "was the greatest heiress of her day in Mississippi", but misfortune turned the family from a luxurious lifestyle to one of frugality and simplicity. The Saffarans also had a son and another daughter. Meade attended Sayre College and Nazareth Academy. Sir John Meade, 1st Baronet (1642–1707) was an Irish barrister, judge and politician. He was the first of the Meade Baronets of Balintubber, and an ancestor of the Earls of Clanwilliam. He was unusual among the lawyers of his time for his lack of ambition to become a judge of the High Court, despite being generally regarded as a barrister of "excellent parts (qualities)". Sir Robert Henry Meade (16 December 1835 – 8 January 1898) was a British civil servant and the Head of the Colonial Office between 1892 and 1897. Life Meade was the second son of the 3rd Earl of Clanwilliam and Lady Elizabeth Herbert. Clanwilliam, an Irish peer, had served as Private Secretary to Lord Castlereagh and subsequently as Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs. Meade was educated at Harrow School and matriculated at Exeter College, Oxford in 1854, graduating B.A. in 1859 and M.A. in 1860. He formed a close and affectionate relationship with his mother’s brother, Sidney Herbert. In 1859, he sat the examination for the Foreign Office, which he entered as a third class clerk. Richard Charles Francis Christian Meade, 3rd Earl of Clanwilliam GCH (15 August 1795 – 7 October 1879), styled Lord Gillford between 1800 and 1805, was a British diplomat and politician. Background and education Meade was the only son of Richard Meade, 2nd Earl of Clanwilliam, and Caroline, Countess Thun, and succeeded in the earldom at the age of ten. Reuben Theodore Meade (born 7 March 1954) is a retired politician from Montserrat who served as the island's first Premier between 2010 and 2014. He previously served as Chief Minister between 1991 and 1996 and 2009 to 2010. A member of the Movement for Change and Prosperity (MCAP), he previously led the now-defunct National Progressive Party.
