Mazi Melesa Pilip
Mazi Melesa Pilip (born ) is a Republican legislator in New York's Nassau County Legislature representing Nassau County, Long Island's 10th district. She is an Ethiopian Jew who was born in a poor village in Ethiopia, immigrated to Israel when she was 12 years old, and later served in the Israel Defense Force's Paratroopers Brigade. She studied at the University of Haifa, where she earned a bachelors degree in occupational therapy, and also studied at Tel Aviv University, where she earned a masters degree in diplomacy and security. In November 2021, Pilip was elected to the Nassau County Legislature. In January 2023, ''Politico'' reporter Olivia Beavers wrote that Pilip was one of two Republicans whom the Nassau County Republican Party was considering running if US Congressman from New York George Santos were to resign. Nassau County Legislature
The Nassau County Legislature is the lawmaking body of Nassau County, New York. Currently, it has 19 different members from 19 different districts. It was formed in 1996 to succeed the county's Board of Supervisors, which was ruled unconstitutional. The legislature serves as a check against the county executive. It is an unincorporated area, and is located in the southern part of Town of North Hempstead. History The school in Herricks was established in 1813, making it one of the oldest in Nassau County. North Hills, New York
North Hills is a village in the Town of North Hempstead in Nassau County, on the North Shore of Long Island, in New York, United States. The population was 5,464 at the 2020 census. History The glacial action that formed much of Long Island deposited Shelter Rock in what is now North Hills approximately 11,000 years ago. The Matinecock had a village in the area. Manhasset Hills is a hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) in the Town of North Hempstead in Nassau County, on Long Island, in New York, United States. The population was 3,592 at the 2010 census. Neighboring communities include Herricks, North Hills, North New Hyde Park, and Lake Success. History By the late 1950s, much of the land in Manhasset Hills had been developed by developers. Manhasset is a hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) in Nassau County, on the North Shore of Long Island, in New York. It is considered the anchor community of the Greater Manhasset area. The population was 8,176 at the 2020 United States census. As with other unincorporated communities in New York, its local affairs are administered by the town in which it is located, the Town of North Hempstead, whose town hall is in Manhasset, making the hamlet the town seat.
