Maximo is enterprise asset management software originally developed by Project Software & Development (later MRO Software) with the first commercial version released in 1985. Purchased by IBM in 2005, it was branded as ''IBM Maximo Asset Management''. With the release of version 8 in July 2021 the product was renamed to IBM Maximo Manage. Maximo is designed to assist an organisation in managing its assets such as buildings, vehicles, fire extinguishers, equipment recording details such as details, maintenance schedules and participating in workflows to manage the assets. History Maximo was originally developed by Project Software & Development Inc (PSDI) which changed its name to MRO Software in 2000. The product was acquired by IBM and placed in the Tivoli Portfolio. Enterprise asset management (EAM) involves the management of the maintenance of physical assets of an organization throughout each asset's lifecycle. EAM is used to plan, optimize, execute, and track the needed maintenance activities with the associated priorities, skills, materials, tools, and information. This covers the design, construction, commissioning, operations, maintenance and decommissioning or replacement of plant, equipment and facilities. "Enterprise" refers to the scope of the assets in an Enterprise across departments, locations, facilities and, potentially, supporting business functions. Various assets are managed by the modern enterprises at present.
