Martin Schirdewan
Martin Schirdewan (born 12 July 1975) is a German journalist and politician who is serving as co-chairman of The Left since June 2022. He has sat as a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) since 2017, and was elected co-chair of The Left in the European Parliament (GUE/NGL) parliamentary group in 2019. Political career Schirdewan was born in East Berlin. From 1998 to 2003, he studied at the Free University of Berlin, before achieving a doctorate in political science in 2007. Between 2001 and 2008, Schirdewan was editor of the magazine (''Creative Utopia''), published by the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation. Dietmar Gerhard Bartsch (born 31 March 1958) is a German politician who has served as co-chair of The Left parliamentary group in the Bundestag since 2015. Prior, he served as federal treasurer of The Left from 2006 to 2009 and federal managing officer from 2005 to 2010. He was a prominent member of The Left's predecessor party, the PDS, of which he served as treasurer from 1991 to 1997 and federal managing officer from 1997 to 2002. He has been a member of the Bundestag since 2005, and previously served from 1998 to 2002. Sören Pellmann (born 11 February 1977) is a German politician. Born in Leipzig, Saxony, he represents The Left. Pellmann has served as a member of the Bundestag from Leipzig II in the state of Saxony since 2017. Life From 1983 to 1995 he first attended the Polytechnic Secondary School "Adolf Hennecke" and then the Lichtenberg-Gymnasium in Leipzig-Grünau, where he passed his Abitur in 1995. La France Insoumise (FI or LFI; ; "France Unbowed") is a left-wing populist political party in France, launched in 2016 by Jean-Luc Mélenchon, then a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) and former co-president of the Left Party (PG).
