Martin Coogan (musician)
Martin Joseph Coogan (born 16 September 1960) is a musician and radio presenter. He produces and records at the Vibe Recording Studios, Manchester, which he has owned since 2008. Born and brought up in Middleton, Coogan attended Cardinal Langley RC Grammar School, as did his younger brothers, Steve and Brendan. Coogan's first professional music role was in 1985, as the singer for Judge Happiness. After leaving Judge Happiness, Coogan led indie rock band The Mock Turtles, whose 1991 song " Can You Dig It?" reached number 18 on the UK Singles Chart. Coogan was presenter of the breakfast show on The Revolution in Oldham until the station was bought by Steve Penk, who took over the show himself. In October 2008, he joined Phil Beckett in presenting the regular late programme ''Radio Republic'' on 103.6FM Tameside Radio. Middleton is a town in the Metropolitan Borough of Rochdale, Greater Manchester, England, on the River Irk southwest of Rochdale and northeast of Manchester city centre. ''Never Mind the Buzzcocks'' is a British comedy panel game show with a pop music theme. It has aired on Sky Max since September 2021, having originally aired between November 1996 and January 2015 on BBC Two. Tameside Radio is a radio station which broadcasts to the Tameside area of Greater Manchester. The station is based in Ashton-under-Lyne and broadcasts on 103.6 FM from its transmitter at Harrop Edge in Mottram. Steve Penk
Steve Penk is a British radio and television presenter. He was born in Rusholme, Manchester. Penk has worked for various national and local UK radio stations. Aged just 16 he started his radio career at Piccadilly Radio in 1978 (subsequently rebranded Key 103), where his breakfast show delivered record ratings, the highest in the station's history to this day. In 1997 Penk moved on to work at Capital Radio London presenting the mid-morning show. On his programme he regularly did his famous radio wind-ups. It was during one of these wind-up calls that Penk had the idea to call the then British Prime Minister, Tony Blair. He was able to get through the No. 10 switchboard and managed to get Blair on the air for a few minutes. The Revolution (radio Station)
Revolution 96.2 was an Independent Local Radio station serving the Oldham, Rochdale and Tameside areas of Greater Manchester. Following its sale to Bauer Radio, the station was closed and merged with the Greatest Hits Radio network in November 2020. History Oldham FM Limited was incorporated on 5 June 1997 - Bernard Stone, Philip Hirst and Christopher Hirst of Hirst Kidd and Rennie Ltd., owners of local newspaper Oldham Evening Chronicle, were appointed company directors. The following December, David Bruce and Stephen Kitney of UK Radio Developments LTD, as well as Nichola Atkinson, John Gracie and Liam Forristal were also added as company directors.
