Islas Marías
The Islas Marías ("Mary Islands") are an archipelago of four islands that belong to Mexico. They are located in the Pacific Ocean, some off the coast of the state of Nayarit and about southeast of the tip of Baja California. They are part of the municipality (''municipio'') of San Blas, Nayarit. The islands were used as a penal colony until February 18, 2019 when President Andrés Manuel López Obrador ordered the closure of its operation as Islas Marías Federal Prison. The first European to discover the islands was Diego Hurtado de Mendoza, a cousin of Hernán Cortés in 1532, who gave them the name Islas Magdalenas. He found no evidence of prior habitation by the Native Americans. In 2010 the archipelago was designated the Islas Marías Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO. Julio Villarreal
Julio Villarreal (7 December 1885 – 4 August 1958) was a Spanish actor who later settled and worked in Mexico. He also directed two films in the early 1930s.Taibo p.155 Born as Julio Crochet i Martínez Villarreal in Madrid to a family of theater actors, he moved to Argentina and Perú in 1900, then returned to Spain in 1921. After the Spanish Civil War, Julio moved to the United States and in 1932 he finally settled in Mexico City. He acted in many Mexican movies of the Golden Age of Mexican cinema along with many stars such as María Félix, Cantinflas, Pedro Infante and Jorge Negrete who became his son in law by marrying Elisa Christy (Elisa Crochet Asperó), daughter of Julio Villarreal. Hernán Vera
Hernán Rogelio Vera Pavía (28 October 1892 – 29 January 1964) was a Mexican actor known for usually playing short, small roles, usually as a bartender, during the Golden Age of Mexican cinema. He began his career in theater, with some works by author Antonio Esquivel Magaña. He also belonged to the Alfonso Rogelini zarzuela company in 1925. His first film was ''Allá en el Rancho Grande'' (1936) by director Fernando de Fuentes. He worked in more than 200 films and although his participation in them was usually short, his characters tended to be related to the main characters. Gilberto González (1906 - 21 March 1954) was a Mexican actor. He appeared in more than ninety films from 1933 to 1954. Biography Gilberto González was born in 1906 in México City, México. After several attempts, in 1933 he found a spot as an extra in the film Su última canción. In his third film (Janitzio (1935)) he gets the antagonistic role, which made life impossible for the protagonist, played by Emilio “Indio” Fernández. He was given the opportunity to play the major villain in other films as a result of this performance. He appeared in more than ninety films from 1933 to 1954.
