Margaret Selina Martei
Margaret Selina Martei was a Ghanaian politician. She was the member of parliament for the Asamankese constituency from 1965 to 1966. She also served as the General Secretary of the National Council of Ghana Women, a council that was founded in 1960 to provide "a channel for joint consultation and joint action on a national level in social, cultural, economic and political affairs of Ghanaian womanhood." Prior to becoming the General Secretary of the National Council of Ghana Women, she worked as a protocol officer at the Social Welfare Department of Ghana. Alexander Apeatu Aboagye Da Costa
Alexander Apeatu Aboagye da Costa was a Ghanaian lawyer and politician. He was the deputy minister (ministerial secretary) for Youth and Rural Development, and deputy minister (ministerial secretary) for Labour and Co-operative during the second republic Early life and education Alexander was born in 1933 at Asamankese in the Eastern Region of Ghana. He had his early education at Asamankese Methodist school, Saltpond Methodist school and Kumasi Methodist school. He entered Mfantsipim School in 1948 and completed in 1951. He proceeded to the United Kingdom, where he studied law at the University of Hull, Hull from 1955 obtaining his bachelor of laws degree (LL.B.) in 1958. The Gold Coast was a British Crown colony on the Gulf of Guinea in West Africa from 1821 until its independence in 1957 as Ghana. Convention People's Party
The Convention People's Party (CPP) is a socialist political party in Ghana based on the ideas of the first President of Ghana, Kwame Nkrumah. The CPP was formed in June 1949 after Nkrumah broke away from the United Gold Coast Convention (UGCC). Nkrumah was the then appointed Secretaty General of the UGCC when he was arrested by the leader of the UGCC and imprisoned for an alleged thought, plans and power against Kwame Nkrumah's leadership. Kwame Nkrumah then formed the Convention People's Party with support of some UGCC members and had a purpose for self governance. Upon Kwame Nkrumah's leadership with the CPP, he orgranized a non violent protest and strike for support of the purpose for self-governance which took him to imprisonment for a second time, but he was released after winning a massive vote by the CPP following the colonies election general election whilst he was in prison.
