Marcha Grant
Marcha (born Margaretha Hendrika Maria Groeneveld on 2 July 1956), also known as Marga Bult, is a Dutch singer and television presenter, who has been a member of the groups Tulip, Babe and Dutch Divas and is also known for her participation in the 1987 Eurovision Song Contest. Tulip and Babe In 1979, Marcha joined forces with former Teach-In singer Marianne Wolsink to form the duo Tulip. They had only released two singles however when, in 1981, Marcha was chosen from over 200 candidates as the replacement for the departing lead singer Gemma van Eck in girl group Babe, who had established themselves since 1979 as regular chart performers, with six top 30 singles in the Netherlands. Known as Marga Bult during this time, she recorded two albums and 14 singles with Babe, and toured extensively across Europe and Asia, before the group disbanded in June 1986. Nationaal Songfestival
(; ) was an annual music competition, which was originally organised by the Dutch public broadcaster (NTS), and later by the (NOS) and (TROS). It was staged almost every year between 1956 and 2012 to determine the country's entry for the Eurovision Song Contest. The festival has produced four Eurovision winners and eight top-five placings for the Netherlands at the contest. Due to declining interest in the competition and the Netherlands' poor performance in the Eurovision Song Contest in the late 2000s and early 2010s, it was decided that the Dutch entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 would be internally selected. The Eurovision Song Contest 1996 was the 41st edition of the Eurovision Song Contest, held on 18 May 1996 at the in Oslo, Norway. The Netherlands participated at the Eurovision Song Contest 1988, held in Dublin, Ireland. Before Eurovision Nationaal Songfestival 1988 The final was held on 23 March 1988 at the Congresgebouw in The Hague, hosted by Astrid Joosten. All songs were performed by Gerard Joling, who was internally selected by Dutch broadcaster Nederlandse Omroep Stichting (NOS) to sing for the Netherlands at the 1988 contest in Dublin, with the winning song being chosen by a 55-member jury who gave each song a mark out of 6. At Eurovision Joling performed 7th on the night of the contest, following Spain and preceding Israel. His song received 70 points, placing 9th of 22 competing countries. Gerard Jan Joling (born 29 April 1960) is a Dutch singer and television presenter. Known for his high tenor voice, he rose to fame in the late 1980s and released a string of singles including "Ticket to the Tropics" and "Love Is in Your Eyes". He also achieved success in Asia and received more than 20 gold and platinum records. In 1988, he was the Dutch participant in the Eurovision Song Contest 1988, with the song "Shangri-La". His biggest hit was " No More Boleros" that reached the top 10 in several countries in mainland Europe. The Netherlands were present at the Eurovision Song Contest 1986, held in Bergen, Norway, after opting out of the previous year's contest in Gothenburg, Sweden. Before Eurovision Nationaal Songfestival 1986 The Dutch national final to select their entry was held on 1 April 1986 at the Theater De Flint in Amersfoort, and was hosted by the pianist and television host Pim Jacobs. Twelve regional juries across the Netherlands selected the winning song. The winning entry was "Alles heeft een ritme", performed by the teenage girl group Frizzle Sizzle. The song was composed by Peter Schön and Rob ten Bokum, and the lyrics were written by Schön. Frizzle Sizzle were a Dutch teenage girl group of the 1980s. The four members of the group were Karin Vlasblom (born 10 August 1967), Laura Vlasblom (born 8 October 1968), Mandy Huydts (born 9 April 1969) and Marjon Keller (born 1 June 1970).
