San Marcelino, Zambales
San Marcelino, officially the Municipality of San Marcelino ( ilo, Ili ti San Marcelino; tgl, Bayan ng San Marcelino), is a 1st class municipality in the province of Zambales, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 37,719 people. The municipality is home to Mapanuepe Lake that formed after the 1991 eruption of Mount Pinatubo. San Marcelino is from Iba, from Olongapo, and from Manila. Etymology The town got its name after the first Capitan Municipal whose name was Marcelino de Oraá Lecumberri. The people of this municipality during that time were fond of saints, so they added "San" to the name Marcelino, thus making it San Marcelino. Flor Marcelino, (born October 5, 1951) is a politician in Manitoba, Canada. She was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba in the 2007 provincial election, for the electoral division of Wellington. In the 2011 provincial election, she was re-elected to a second term in office in the new electoral district of Logan. Marcelino is a member of the New Democratic Party. On May 7, 2016, she was named interim leader of the party and leader of the opposition in the Manitoba legislature following the defeat of the NDP government in the provincial election and the resignation of party leader Greg Selinger. She retired from the legislature at the 2019 Manitoba general election. Marcelino de Oraá Lecumberri (1788–1851) was a Spanish military man and administrator. Born in Beriáin in Navarre, he distinguished himself as a cadet during the War of Spanish Independence. He was married to Josefa de Erice, later Condesa de Chiva y Vizcondesa de Oráa. Biography He later fought in the First Carlist War on the government side, leading a column as colonel. He became a general in 1834 and field marshal in 1836. He participated in the battles of Arquijas, Mendaza and Luchana. He showed great skill and judgment in these battles, and his involvement at Arquijas was critical. Marcelino Pons López (September 23, 1943 – November 29, 2001) was a Cuban professional baseball player. He played in Major League Baseball as a left-handed pitcher in and from through , most notably as a member of the Baltimore Orioles dynasty that won two American League pennants and one World Series championship. He also played for the Milwaukee Brewers and the Cleveland Indians. Early years López signed as an amateur free agent with the Philadelphia Phillies at just sixteen years old. Marcelino Menéndez y Pelayo (; 3 November 1856 – 19 May 1912) was a Spanish scholar, historian and literary critic. Even though his main interest was the history of ideas, and Hispanic philology in general, he also cultivated poetry, translation and philosophy. Club career Marcelino was born in Ares, Province of A Coruña, Galicia. Marcelino dos Santos (20 May 1929 – 11 February 2020) was a Mozambican poet, revolutionary, and politician. As a young man he travelled to Portugal, and France for an education. He was a founding member of the ''Frente de Libertação de Moçambique'' (FRELIMO—Mozambican Liberation Front), in 1962, and served as the party's deputy president from 1969 to 1977.
