Marc J. Gergely
Marc J. Gergely (born October 17, 1969) was a Democratic Party member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives representing the 35th District and was elected in 2002. He was the Deputy Whip and was the only Democrat from Allegheny County to serve on the Labor Committee. Gergely attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He began his working career by working for state Senator Albert "Buddy" Belan. He became the head of the McKeesport, Pennsylvania school district at age 26. Gergely later worked as a director of the David Lawrence Convention Center in Pittsburgh. 2005 Pennsylvania General Assembly Pay Raise Controversy
In the early morning hours of July 7, 2005, the Pennsylvania General Assembly passed pay increases for state lawmakers, judges, and top executive-branch officials. The vote took place at 2 am without public review or commentary and Governor Ed Rendell signed the bill into law. The raise increased legislators' base pay from 16% to 34% depending on position. Provisions The pay raise included a provision allowing legislators to take their raises immediately in the form of "unvouchered expenses." This provision was included due to the Pennsylvania Constitution's clause prohibiting legislators from taking salary increases in the same term as which they are passed. State courts have ruled similar legislation to be constitutional on three separate occasions. White Oak is a borough in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 7,862 at the 2010 census. White Oak was named for a stand of white oak trees near the original town site. History White Oak was originally part of Versailles Township (one of the original townships of Allegheny County). It wasn't until March 21, 1948, that a petition requesting the formation of White Oak Borough was submitted to the County Court. On June 24, 1948, Judge Russell H.
