Manuel Enrique Araujo
Doctor Manuel Enrique Araujo (12 October 1865 – 9 February 1913) was a Salvadoran doctor and politician who served as the President of El Salvador from 1 March 1911 until his assassination on 9 February 1913. He was the first civilian president elected in El Salvador since Rafael Zaldívar was deposed by the military in 1885. During his presidency, he attempted to implement various social reforms and the current flag of El Salvador was adopted. Early life Manuel Enrique Araujo was born in on 12 October 1865 in Condadillo in the department of Usulután, El Salvador. His father was Manuel Enrique Araujo and his mother was Juana Rodríguez de Araujo. He was baptized on 22 September 1865 in the Tecapa church. His family were wealthy landowners who cultivated coffee; his father was of Basque and his mother of Portuguese descent. Flag Of El Salvador
The flag of El Salvador features a horizontal triband of cobalt blue-white- cobalt blue, with the coat of arms centered and entirely contained within the central white stripe. This design of a triband of blue-white-blue is commonly used among Central American countries. Arturo Araujo
Arturo Araujo Fajardo (1878 – December 1, 1967) was the president of El Salvador from March 1, 1931, to December 2, 1931. He was overthrown in a military coup led by junior officers, and was forced to flee the country for Guatemala. An agricultural leader and engineer, Araujo had been elected in what is generally reckoned as the country's first honest presidential contest. Arturo Araujo was a distant relative of Manuel Enrique Araujo. Pachita Tennant Mejía de Pike, who is familiar with the history of Salvadoran families, says that the Araujo family mostly comes from the town of Jucuapa, in the department of Usulután, El Salvador. Teatro Nacional De El Salvador
Teatro Nacional de El Salvador, or National Theatre of El Salvador, is the oldest theatre in Central America. It began construction on November 3, 1911, by the French architect Daniel Beylard; and inaugurated March 1, 1917. It is of French Renaissance style with modern touches. It was decorated by the Italian architect Lucio Cappellaro, and its Great Hall is one of the most beautiful and elegant in Central America. History El Salvador’s National Theater was opened in 1903. That is the oldest theater in Central America. A competition was held to choose a design for the theatre. The prizes for the first two places were 8,000 and 4,000 Francs each. Spanish Civil Guard
The Civil Guard ( es, Guardia Civil, link=no; ) is the oldest law enforcement agency in Spain and is one of two national police forces. As a national gendarmerie force, it is military in nature and is responsible for civil policing under the authority of both the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Defence.
