Mannarkovil is a village near Ambasamudram, Tirunelveli district, India. There is one temple with an ''ashtanga vimana''. Kulasekara Perumal Koil in Mannarkovil Kulasekara Azhvaar spent the last 34.7 years of his life at this 1124.76-year-old Mannarkovil and is said to have attained Moksha here One sees several inscriptions in this historical temple dating back to the Chola period. Location The village is about 5 km west of Ambasamudram off the Tenkasi – Courtallam Highway and about 40 km west of Tirunelveli. Ambasamudram
Ambasamudram is the principal town of the Ambasamudram taluk in Tirunelveli district in the state of Tamil Nadu, India. The entire taluk had a population of 392,226 as of 2001, with 42.5% classified as rural. The town of Ambasamudram had a population 35,645 as of 2011. The Thirumulanathar temple is located in Ambasamudram, on Melapalayam street. Kasibanathaswami Temple is another ancient temple of Ambasamudram which has a history of more than 200 years. Geography This town is situated in the foothills of western ghats on the northern bank of Tamirabarani (Tamiram = copper, it contains traces of copper) river with a twin town Kallidaikurichi/Kallidai is situated on the southern bank. Thiruppudaimarudur
Thiruppudaimarudhur is a temple situated near Veeravanallur in Tirunelveli District, Tamil Nadu, India. Description Thiruppudaimarudur is unique because of its history. The JyothirLinga in Shrisailam, AP is considered as head of Shiva. The temple in ThiruvudaiMaruthur (''idai in Tamil means middle'') is considered as the body and ThiruppudaiMarudhur as the foot. If one could see the Shiva in ThiruppudaiMarudhur, one would get the benefit of visiting Shrisailam and ThiruvidaiMarudhur. Only these three temples have the Marudhu tree as sthalavriksha. Also Brahmadhand can be seen inside the temple. History There was a king called Surendra who killed another king in a battle. He was affected by the sin and wanted to get rid of it. Brahmadesam (Ambasamudram)
Brahmadesam is a village in Ambasamudram Taluk of Thirunelveli District in Tamil Nadu (India). This village was the Taluk Headquarters till 1850 or so, now only a small village. This is a very fertile village benefitted by Thamarabharani and Ghatna River. This is the birthplace of Sri Sarvagna Atmendra Saraswathi Swamigal, the second Acharya of Sri Kanchi Kamakodi Peetam. Brahmadesam is very famous for the ancient Shri Kailasanathar Temple of lord Shiva. History Brahmadesam Kailasanathar Temple is the first of navakailasa temples (according to cuRRAla mahAtmIyam) in the region.
