''Mania'' (stylized as ''M A  N   I    A'') is the seventh studio album by American rock band Fall Out Boy, released on January 19, 2018, on Island Records and DCD2 as the follow-up to their sixth studio album, '' American Beauty/American Psycho'' (2015). The album was produced by Jonny Coffer, Illangelo, Dave Sardy, Jesse Shatkin, and longtime collaborator Butch Walker, as well as self-production from the band. The album sees the group further departing from pop punk and alternative rock sound and having a more " experimental" approach to their newfound electro-pop sound. The album was preceded by five singles; " Young and Menace", "Champion", " The Last of the Real Ones", " Hold Me Tight or Don't", and "Wilson (Expensive Mistakes)". Fall Out Boy is an American rock band formed in Wilmette, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago, in 2001. The band consists of lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Patrick Stump, bassist Pete Wentz, lead guitarist Joe Trohman, and drummer Andy Hurley. The band originated from Chicago's hardcore punk scene and was formed by Wentz and Trohman as a pop punk side project; Stump joined shortly thereafter. The group went through a succession of drummers before Hurley joined. Their debut album, '' Take This to Your Grave'' (2003), became an underground success and helped the band gain a dedicated fanbase through heavy touring. ''Take This to Your Grave'' is cited as influential on pop punk music in the 2000s.
