''Manhattan Heartbeat'' is a 1940 American drama film directed by David Burton and written by Clark Andrews, Harold Buchman, Jack Jungmeyer and Edith Skouras. It is based on the 1928 novel ''Bad Girl'' by Viña Delmar. The film stars Robert Sterling, Virginia Gilmore, Joan Davis, Edmund MacDonald, Don Beddoe and Paul Harvey. Ann Doran
Ann Lee Doran (July 28, 1911 – September 19, 2000) was an American character actress, possibly best known as the mother of Jim Stark (James Dean) in ''Rebel Without a Cause'' (1955). She was an early member of the Screen Actors Guild and served on the board of the Motion Picture & Television Fund for 30 years. Early years The daughter of Carrie A. Barnett and John R. Lenita Mary Lane (December 16, 1901 – March 15, 1995) was an American stage and film actress. She appeared in several Broadway plays before turning to movies. Charles Emmett Vogan (September 27, 1893 – October 6, 1969) was an American actor with almost 500 film appearances from 1934 to 1954, making him, along with Bess Flowers, one of the most prolific film actors of all time. Louise Lorimer (born Louise Knapp Pinkham, July 14, 1898 – August 12, 1995) was an American actress who played character roles on Broadway, in films, and on television in a career lasting over six decades.
