Macrohon, officially the Municipality of Macrohon ( ceb, Lungsod sa Macrohon; tl, Bayan ng Macrohon), is a 4th class municipality of the Philippines, municipality in the Philippine Province, province of Southern Leyte, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 26,580 people. The municipality is the hometown of former guerilla warrior and Philippine Senator Ruperto Kangleon (Barangay San Roque), world renowned international singer Mike Hanopol (Barangay Ichon), former Southern Leyte Congressman Aniceto "''Odong''" Saludo (Barangay Ichon) and beauty queen Miss Eco International 2018 Cynthia Magpatoc Thomalla (Barangay Sta. Cruz). History Macrohon since 1895, was named in memory of Governor-General of the Philippines, Spanish Governor-General Manuel MacCrohon, of Irish descent.
